Some of you will have driven the now famous TopCats Racing two seater on one of the fantastic track days that have been written about here on PH. But very few of you will have behind the wheel for 100mins straight , let alone in conditions that would have made Noah jealous !! With the previous race at Brands cut short due to a late running race card and this being the last race of the season the team were anxious to see the car have a good run.

The weather however was conspiring to put pay to the best-laid plans. An early qualifying session saw the car, driven again by Warren Gilbert set 3rd quickest time before coming back into the pits after 18 laps, no point risking the car any further in the worsening weather. At the end of the session the car was still up in 6th place, a good start for a car with no ABS or Traction Control – as enjoyed by the M3 BMW’s

By the start of the race the weather had again closed in and night was well and truly upon us. An accident on lap one saw the pace car get an early roll out, unsurprisingly that wasn’t to be the last we’d see of the pace car on track. With visibility down to feet rather than meters, drivers were being pushed to the limit especially those tackling the race on their own. Still after 100 gruelling minutes Warren brought the car home with a class win and an overall position of 8th, a fantastic and hard fought result.

The car hadn’t missed a beat all day even in the appalling wet conditions, testament to the hard work and preparation put into the car by the team.

Next season should see the car out for more races, anyone interested in occupying the drivers seat drop me a mail off line via my profile ..............
