HI all,

Does anyone have any experience with the above. My usual mechanic has informed me that i need new cam foller's and is not preparted to take on the job. Spoke to R T this morning and seemed very knowledgable quoted worse case cira £1000 for new followers and cam shafts belts etc if required. also said if cam shafts need changing can give me an upgrade for no more expense.

Does this sound about right was expecting closer to £800. and has anyone on here used them and can share there experinces or recomend alternitives i might consider in the north lincs area.

I can throughly recommend RT Racing - their Richard has been around TVR long enough to know what he's doing and they are very well known in Tasmin racing too.

I have used Richard Thorpe in the past and he did a great job - I would say however that (perhaps due to his racing commitments) he can take a while to get a job done (great though it is) and may need to be pestered. Thats just from personal experience, and as I say he does do a very good job.

Never had him work on a car, but ordered parts and sent a drive shaft off to be reconditioned.

Never had any problems, things arrived quickly and were as cheap as I could find them elsewhere. Driveshaft came back as good as new. I would feel comfortable taking my car to him for work and trusting that I was getting the job done properly and not being overcharged.

Probably just a slip of the tongue or typing finger but your chimaera only has one camshaft.

v8 devolpments has also been suggested. any esperience?

I found RT (Richard) a little unfriendly and he once lost a bit of trim which he was refurbishing for me..
other than those experiences - it was OK.

Have you contacted TVR power? Their prices seem very reasonable and who better to fix the engine than the people who built it, I wish I’d taken mine there when I was told I needed a new cam, probably would have saved all the hassle I went through with mine.

used v8d this year on my griff. very good indeed. would personaly not use anyone else now.

I have a close working relationship with RT Racing .. in fact I'm up there on tuesday. Richard is as nice a bloke as you could hope to meet, and I have no problem recommending RT for work on your car.

Dito on that. Top bloke. Good prices and excellent work. My 400 would have died years ago without RT. There is nothing better than hearing the 'RT' tell me that the cylinder head gasket has not gone ..... again ... and again ......
