With all the cars and bikes ive owned, i have always spent ages scrubbing at dead bugs. Quite often its the reason i put off cleaning a car. So the Tuscan is off to Central TVR tomoz for a 12k service and i thought id give it a good wash before it goes. Havent washed it for a week or so because of the aforementioned scurbbing woes. Front of car looks like it has slayed every insect in the UK, great i think this is gonna be a nightmare. Que 'Simoniz bug and tar wipes', thought well these are gonna be crap like everything else ive tried! How wrong was I! There bloody amazing, no real scrubbing, just lather up and rub over like normal washing, all bug residue gone in an instant. Not that great on tar though, but A1 on bugs. It took no longer than 10 mins to get the front immaculate.

Happppppy days....I bet they stop selling them now......

Best thing I’ve found for removing road tar is WD40, spray on and leave for 10mins then wash off with warm soapy water

If I said that they were recommended on a detailing site, would you believe me?

Autoglym Tar Remover.

Very effective.

But remember - anything that strips tar will also strip every last bit of wax that might be on the car away. So a deep cleaning routine has to include a thorough wash AFTER the tar remover as well as before and then a full wax and polish.

Hence I don't use tar remover that often. I try to wax the car three or four times a year though as it does make regular washing so much easier afterwards.

If you've seen what comes out of the business end of a new born baby eek - it's not that surprinsing they can shift a few squashed flies. I'm just surprised they don't work that well on the tar.......
