Car Collection - Preferred Method?
Discussion
Maybe this is a stupid question but...
If a company that you are paying to carry out work on your car provides a collection and delivery service how would you rather they did it?
a) By transporter trailer - this would require the car to be winched up on the trailer;
b) Driven away by a fully insured company employee (assuming the car is fit to drive!).
In some cases it might be useful for the company employee to drive the car anyway, depending on if any 'on-the-road' diagnosis is required. On the other hand, I am also aware that some people would rather others did not drive their car at all.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

TBH most drivers are not that technically minded & the Service Manager is unlikely to allow one of his highly paid technicians out of the workshop unless he can charge you for a breakdown.
99% of the drivers will treat your car with respect because if they don't they loose their job. They also stand a far higher chance of being 'spotted' in a TVR.
At a garage I worked at many years ago a driver was sacked because a member of the public reported the customers car being driven in a dangerous manner. The Police contacted the owner after the member of public had given them the reg number. You can only imagine the discussion over the phone between the customer & the Service Manager
If you use a trailer service make sure it is run by the actual garage so their driver is used to TVR's & not some sub-contractor who has'nt got a clue.....I think most people have seen the evidence of scraped front nose cones, gouged exhaust pipes & scuffed rims

That's correct. We have a twin axle transporter trailer with winch (more controllable then driving cars on), etc. Haven't used it for any TVR's yet but I will try it with my TVR Chimaera and my associate's Cerbera, 3000S and Turbo Taimar before deciding to use it for car collection and delivery!
Many thanks for all your responses.

I must have misunderstood these two parts as they read to me as though you where asking as a prospective customer not carrying out a marketing exercise for a commercial operation In some cases it might be useful for the company employee to drive the car anyway, depending on if any 'on-the-road' diagnosis is required. On the other hand, I am also aware that some people would rather others did not drive their car at all.

You're welcome to come on here both to ask questions...'feel things out', whether for commercial reasons or otherwise.
Anyone who owns/is interested in TVRs is welcome.
Good luck with your business, and thanks for consulting your client base.
Pity our stupid government doesn't do likewise.
