One of my clients is a relatively famous writer. She was telling me this morning about the TVR she built when she was younger, and I mentioned pistonheads and the TVRCC and offered to ask around for her.

Basically want to know if it's still on the road, and if anyone knows anything of it.

It was an early TVR Grantura with the Chassis #397, and had a registration that began with SKT. The full reg may have been SKT 697 but she can't be sure.

I've promised her a ride in the MG when it's finished. She's a total petrolhead, and I think it would be a nice gesture to find out about the car. Also, it may give the current owner some extra provenence wink

David

Give the club office a ring on 01952 822126. If the car is still around then they may have to get the permission of the current owner (if he/she is a club member) to put you in contact (if there is one). It may take a little while but sounds like it will be worth it for your client

Hope this helps

I would also try and get hold of Roger Cook, through the TVRCC.
He is a great historian about things TVR in that Era, worked on the Zante restoration IIRC.
Based in Cheltenham, contact the RO, or the office.

Isn't Grant Crouch (Chuggaboom) the car registrar? He would be my first port of call.

What colour was it originally? I got chatting to a consierge in London and turns out he had a very early model, showed me some pictures (sorry can't remember the reg). If you have any details of the original model and colour - I'll call him and see if it's his. He mentioned he knew it was being restored.....

Well, on the bright side, that could be better than the usual "Date of liability: 1963" which would suggest it's properly dead - it could be that it is in a barn somewhere, it could be on a different plate now. The plate would be quite valuable in its own right, fair chance that someone has taken it off and put it on something else.

And how could you find out... Surely a DVLA search on the Reg would have brought up 'Range Rover Sport' or whatever if it had been transferred?

Only picked on the RRS as it's the only car I've NEVER seen without a private platehehe
