Water coming in, how do I stop it?

Left my Griff out in the rain last week and although it's never let in water before, I returned to find a puddle in the drivers footwell and was not pleased to say the least!! My problem is that I'm going to have to use it for transport over the next few days for work and it'll be left outside quite a lot and I don't really want it turning into a 4 wheeled bath over the weekend.

So, when it leaked water it was easy to find where it was coming in from. It appeared to be coming over the rubber seal towards the front of the drivers side door, exactly where the groove in the rubber is. I may be wrong but don't the two grooves in the ruber door seals have something to do with stopping water getting in, directing it over the kickplates? Forgive me if I'm totally wrong with this assumption!!

Anyway, from what I could see water was coming down where the door closes at the front, going along the top of the seal and then coming into the footwell. Has anyone ever had this problem before and if you have please can you give me some ideas as to how to get rid of it?

If it helps I've checked that all rubber seals around the door are in good condition and are not coming away from where they're supposed to be so I'm rather confused as to how/why this is happening.

I'd really appreciate any help guys!

Drill a 1/2 inch hole in the footwell floor to let the water drain out of. Seriously. Dry the mats out and put loads of those silicon bags in to get rid of the ambient moisture.

- in conclusion - although I was convinced the water was coming in through the door seals, I realised the carpets were getting wet from underneath first - hence I realised that to argue with God (aka Steve Heath) was fairly pointless - silicon sealant on the brake master clinder seal and a liberal extra coating on the clutch master cylinder inspection hatch seems to have done the trick (for me at least)

This is interesting (to me at least) in that I have what would seem to be exactly the same problem on my car (kit).

The water seems to seep down between the door and the sill (capillary action?) until it reaches the lowest point then, instead of dripping away it comes up over the seal into the cabin.

It's driving me mad!

Early Griffs and Chimps had this problem too - the solution was to pinch the rubber seal (at the bottom of the door opening) flat in a couple of places which let the water drain away.
