Toyo R888. How long do they last?

Agree that R888's would be a poor choice for long distance trips. This caught us out when we had them on the Lotus. Pissed it down with rain most of the week we were in the Alps. Water streaming down the mountain roads made progress very procarious. Almost ruined the trip. But the other half is a driving godess and kept us on the tarmac. Especially when we were doing silly speeds along roads with no barrier, shear drops and in the wet 
Best solution is 3 sets of wheels IMO:
1) Trackday - Barely road legal 888's
2) Toyo T1R's - Winter/trips
3) New ish 888's - General spring/summer/autumn use

.My lasted about 5-6000 miles on my TVR.
Agree with what other said - excellent in dry and damp but terrifying in standing water.
The cold sweat running down your back as you try to maintain 70 mph on a British motorway in company with other TVR's with loads of standing water .. with the tyres aqua planing every few seconds .. is truely terrifying.

.... only got 3k out of them.... no trackdays It's a darn shame Toyo doesn't list any sizes that would fit a 15/16"-shod Griffmaera for the R1R - they were pretty good in all weathers (except when it was really cold) on the Saab. I don't think I'd dare to use triple eights or A48s on a roadgoing Tiv (except driving from/to tracks during the 'season').

I got a set on my standard Imolas.The rears are 225/50/16, would have to check the fronts.
Hmmm, Toyo site only lists 225/45/16 which is way too small for my early car which has 225/55 as standard... Same thing for the fronts - 195/50 and 205/50 only with V-speed rating and 225/45/15 with a W, but then you'd upset the fore/aft balance if you only have the option of 225s on the rear....
I had a set on a Tuscan and did three track days and circa 4-5000 road miles. I thought they were really excellent in the wet, although I suppose having track day tyres on, concentrates your mind, when it starts raining. I would suggest that 888s would be a bit OTT if you're just doing road driving though.
