New 1/4 mile PB for my Chim

It only took me a year and a few quid but i finally managed to run the seemingly elusive 11 second 1/4 mile yesterday at York. beer:


11.7261 @ 122.55 was my losing time in the hotrod final to a 41 willys with over 1000bhp on tap!
The same car beat me in the annual street racer championship but i now have the runner up trophy on the mantle. :

Im looking forward to seeing how the car hooks up at Shakey on the 6th Sept. I only had a 1.89 60 foot time on the 11.7 run so im sure theres more to come with some suspension tweaks and a gripier track.
Lets hope they prep the track properly this time.

Im more than made up with the time.
As you know an 11.9 would have been an achievement.
An 11.7 is an unbelievable time.
Works out at 0-60 in 3.7, 0-100 in 8.2

I guess if i want to get into the tens it will have to be a small block chevy as i think im now pushing the limits of the standard Rover pistons. Nevermind the driveshafts, gearbox, prop etc etc

I suppose i should have used a qualifying run to try it but as all my runs on the day were in competition i didnt want to risk messing up a run and losing a race.
It was too busy on Sunday making up for the rain all day Saturday.
Hopefully i will get a chance to try it at the next meeting.
