TVR challenge from USA
Discussion
Having dealt with the challenge to his authority from Iraq, Timmy Blurr's buddy George W has launched a direct offensive against Europe! The opening round was a stealth attack with the US Ford engine going into an MG but now they think they're ready for a full frontal assault! Check out,

Will we succumb?
("We'll fight them on the beaches...etc etc". It'll be handy for Blackpool!)

I like it, look like they've taken a few of the best features of the (IMHO best looking) vette of the early 70's thru to early 80's.
Stunning looking car then and now.
The only connection i can see with an NSX is the vent running down the side. And the only connection with the F40 is the squared off back and round tail lights, but vettes have always had those.

Only Chevrolet could boast about adding weight to brakes when every other performance maker is trying to reduce it. This is just one example of why the good ol' boys have still a long road ahead before they even reach the beach!
I think this and the previous 'Vette are pretty much up there, these cars have had a hell of of lot of development and it would be churlish to dismiss them as any other wallowing yank tank.

Interesting.
They've gone for (back to?) TVR-stylee backbone chassis.
The article goes on about the original smallblock, is the engine still a pushrod design?
think you mean Lotus, the engine is an overhead cam(double?)
No, the engine is an "overhead valve" (i.e. pushrod) design with two valves/cylinder. In other words, it hasn't changed significantly (apart from swapping carbs for EFI) since it was introduced in 1955.
The problem I think is that the small-block Chevy engine is so all-pervasive that significantly altering its design simply wouldn't be practical. It is like the IBM PC - it may not be the cutting edge of technology but part of its popularity is actually due to this fact.
A four valve/cylinder, quad-cam design would virtually defeat the entire purpose of the engine.
Here's to companies like TVR who stand up to the overwhelming tide of mediocrity and offer an alternative to mass-produced gruel.

You're right. They're not just another wallowing yank tank, it is the best wallowing yank tank that has yet been offered for sale. ;->
Saying a car is the "best handling" Corvette ever built is like winning the "taller than Mickey Rooney" award. Stay tuned for the most luxurious and fastest accelerating Malaysian super-mini ever...
When will Detroit figure out that there is a difference between "handling" and "road-holding". Just because a car does well on a skid-pad doesn't mean it handles well. I love it when these Corvette groupies try to convince me that their cars handle better than a Lotus Esprit/Elise/Anything else ever produced at Hethel because of the skid pad stats.
It is to laugh...

I didn't say it was a threat to a bloody Lotus, I said they had come a long way thanks to development, is there a raw nerve being exposed here or something?

I totally agree!! Not my cup of tea, I much prefer the older 'vettes.
there's a slot next to the gearlever the same size as the gear leaver gaiter, do you think they might actually have plans for RHD versions? The hand brake is on the right side too.
