In an attempt to find a solution to my current too-many-miles-car-costing-too-much-to-run-and-spends-more-time-in-the-garage-than-on-the-road-and-has-to-go dilemma that doesn't involve p/x'ing my Chim for £25k+ of something I don't want I am looking at keeping it as a second car.

So question is, which insurance company is flavour of the month for mirroring NCB onto a second car, garaged, limited mileage policy?

Anyone renewed recently?

Cheers

Sunninghill Insurance in Bagshot, they're in the back of Sprint.

(oh and free track day cover too :-) )

Classic Line (also in back of Sprint) will mirror NCB on restricted mileage - if garaged, may even do 'classic' insurance (cheaper, agreed value etc)

I agree... Classic Line.
Quoted very well with mirrored NCB, but ended up with Classic Policy (car 10+yrs old, garaged, limited mileage, agreed value).

I used Sunninghill Insurance who are now located in Aldershot. They mirrored my NCB from the Golf to the Chimaera. No problems. Were very helpful when I had to make a claim.

Depending on what your second car is it would still be worth the effort phoning around (or surfing) for other quotes. I could find none of the TVR brokers could do me as good a deal on my 2nd car (a Skoda) as the online insurers.

Anyone had any experience of this lot:

Thought I may try them once the Griffs insurance comes up.

Norwich Union Direct. I used to sell their policies (did I say that out load, could be worse - double glazing?!) What's more add your missus and usually it'll reduce premium, you're a safer risk being under the thumb. NU Direct will mirror bonus from either you or your partner, in the latter case they'll mirror to the extent that you've been named on their policy claim free.

not sure what other deals they do, but Footman James insure my classic car, and then did me a really good deal on my omega. the classic policy is unlimited miles, and has no NCD applied to it due to being a "second car" policy, although I can still drive it to work if I like.

I don't know what other policies they may do, but might be worth a call.
