SMTS TVR models

Hi folks...has anyone ordered a TVR model from SMTS? They are recommended on the TVRCC website, and I have just ordered a model of my lovely Ruby. I was very particular about my real car being perfect, so I want the model to be perfect, too.
Anyone with any experience? Good comments welcome on here: negative = please mail me off-line (you know Ted's rule!) Thanks!!

Are you talking about getting one made up in your colours or building it yourself? I was making one over Xmas and there is quite a lot of work cleaning up the flash off the mouldings etc. If you are not much into model making don't bother get it pre-made. Oh and whilst were on the subject... does anyone who has buit there own got any tips on spraying the body? I used a car spray tin bought especially for the job and it comes out much too globby. Almost pebbledashes the tiny metal car shell. I'm going to have to strip off all the paint I'v put on but wondered how to get a decent flat finish? Idea? Rich...

SGirl had a pretty good model of her Griff from them (assembled/painted), and my Christmas present this year was of a certain purple Cerbie...
The quality is (IMHO) excellent, but be aware that the models are cute & well, small, so if size matters, you may be disappointed. Er, I may need to edit that...

If you had an aerosol specially made up they do tend to be a bit splattery.Best results are achieved using the paint thinned down and in an airbrush. However good results can be achieved using halford's acrylic aerosols.Also bear in mind when using a metallic the flakes in the paint are for a full size car not a 1/43rd model.

Both very nice models. As well as getting them to paint on your registration, you can even spec the interior colour! Tam Lin said:

Just as well they're not much bigger - we'd have to buy a new TV.

I'm thinking of getting the SMTS Cerbera Speed 12 racer kit, and have a few questions:
Does anyone know the correct colour for this?
Am I better off spraying with a car spray aerosol, or am I better off using an airbrush (any recommendations on type of airbrush)?
If I use an airbrush where is the best place to get the paint from in the right colour.

Excellent results can be had from Halfords aerosols, better if you can get a colour match off the shelf.However Halfords will make up paint for you if you have the name of the colour or its code.Sometimes model manufacturers provide the code but alot of the time , as with many asspects of this type of model,you have to do a bit research.

Well, after 3 weeks, the mini 'Ruby' arrived this morning on my desk. She is beautiful SMTS did her up perfectly. Her Ruby Mica Red colour, magnolia interior and her P400 FUN number plate. The tiny windscreen wipers are perfect - in fact they are 'parked' better on the model than they were on the car! 
The 5-spoke alloys, front grill, rear lights - all of it. Steering wheel, dials and tiny stereo...and those lovely twin exhaust pipes ;-) Oooerrr....and no stone chips, either! Now I will stare at her and fondly remember the good 'ole days....I highly recommend SMTS if you're thinking of getting one!
