I have been informed by my housemate that at the office Christmas party (which I did not attend) one of the hot topics amongst some of my collegues was "him and that f**king trevor car." This was brought up by 2 guys who both get paid a lot more than me. One has just bought a Clio for £7500 and another who has just bought a Ducati 900, and also owns 2 cars. Apparently I was a big string of expletives for driving around in such a flash car.
Now it just amazes me that men aged from 23 to 40 can still b**ch and moan about things like "he has a faster car than me. It's well unfair." Aside from being the lowest paid in the office I also have the cheapest car bar about 3.
I have decided that if the jibes and mumbles continue I will have to speak to the management about it.
I've had the car for 3 months now. You think they would have gotten over it. The others who joined in all also have the likes of Fireblades, R1s etc. as well as cars much more expensive than me.
On the up side I took my martial arts instructor for a drive in it and he came back with a massive TVR grin on his face.

Get the drinks in at lunchtime, mention (and blatantly lie) about any holidays you have being at the parents place in French Guyana.
Nip down your local Porsche centre and get a brochure and casually leave it lying around.
They sound like utter berkleys so it really would be rude not to...

...and call them up but get them to call you back - then leave your desk for some reason so someone else answers the phone, taking a message in the process....

However, I agree, better to be talked about than not. When the tw@ in the Clio drives down the road and no one bats an eyelid at his eurobox, and admire yours, who is the tw@? not you.
When you are in a TVR convoy and people look at you with respect, who is the tw@? not you.
When people ask you to rev it, who is the tw@? not you.

people like this annoy me. I get the same here, as I work in marketing (yeah, I know
) and I drive a P reg Chimaera, I get all the "lazy git, paid too much" etc, in reality thewy do not know the sacrafices I have made to get it. Whereas, if people wanted to and did a bit of research they would realise they could afford them. Luckily, ignorance stops them from doing so (thank god!) and we can stay part of our friendly group, who are true PistonHeads.
If you own a S, a Chimaera, Griff, Sagaris, T350, Typhon, Cerb, whatever, you are respected by the other owners no matter what. You are part of the "gang" There is no jealousy, just respect. tw@s like people you work with will always be bithching about others and what they have, and therefore never happy as they are trying to be better than the next bloke..

Yes, congratulate yourself. Not only do you have a better, faster, sexier car. You are obviously far cleverer because you can afford such a beast even whilst being the lowest paid and, from what I have read in your post, it appears that you possess the by far the largest willy in the office too.

When I was in the market for a car back in 2001, for the money, I had a choice between one of these:

or

Guess which one I choose?
So, relish the fact that they're losing money hand over fist in depreciation and give yourself a pat on the back for being different.

I know it must be hard, but just try and remember what small people your colleagues actually are. In ten years time when you're driving a Tuscan S and working somewhere great, they'll still be sat in their offices wasting their miserable lives bitching about other people rather than taking a look in the mirror and doing something positive themselves.
