My big blue SEAC is back terrorising the South West after nearly one a half years of body-off, every nut and bolt restoration ! Cheers to everybody who has been asking about it's progress.

Looks and sounds great, especially with the new roll-bar. Talk about substantial ! If I ever flip this TVR, I reckon the roll-bar won't gain more than a scratch or two. I'll post a piccy ASAP.

After picking up my TVR, Dan and I made our way back via a two hour x-country blast in unexpectedly good weather. I took the lead, however Dan raised a number of complaints against me 1) He couldn't hear his Griff's exhaust. 2) First time his bright yellow Griff has felt subtle. 3) Negligiable ground clearance of my exhaust threw up all sorts of crap from the road.
Guilty as charged

Driving is still a slightly scary experience, particularly as the first go at remapping the engine has only been partially successful. Idle is still as rough as hell (i.e. it won't), but at least it will now restart. There is a bit more torque at low revs (definitely needed) and the loony tunes top end is still present. Biggest difference is the overrun which can now crackle and pop for England

I was wondering how long it would take you to post something... 3.5hrs... longer than I expected

It was good to see the beast under its own steam, even if I did have to keep blipping the throttle on my ever so quiet and restrained motor, just to make sure I hadn't stalled it. I really couldn't hear mine!! (must get something done about those cats)

Cheers Dan

Good to see the jobs now done and another v loud beast has been unleashed on the unsuspecting public
Hope to see and hear it at one of the many gathering this year.
(All we need now is a quick mpeg so we can all hear and see it before then).

I'm sure Dan was waving a camcorder around at the Bristol Region meet today.

Dan - Any chance of creating an MPEG of about 5mB ? I'll stuff it on the Bristol Region website as it still has a little space left. Or, if you have some wespace of your own then I can simply reference it and you can make it as chunky as you like....

Just so long as it is not the clip of my legs hanging out the passenger door while I was testing fuses !

Picture taken by Dan's camcorder - light was terrible.

However, you can see the hefty new roll bar. It kind of looks 'right' doesn't it....

Not only is it shorter than a standard Wedge - it's also wider. You bet the handling's fun !

I'd forgotten how loud it is ! The fifty minute drive back from the Golden Heart had my ears ringing quite badly. I used to carry a set of earplugs and I think I'll have to dig them out again.

Mind you - It don't half wake sleeping Numpties up when I overtake them

Roll Bar looks superb.
Did you make it yourself.
What tubing did you use and how and where is fixed to the chassis.
If not who supplied it

Superb, just what I would like. Is the restoration diarised? I cannot find it on the Bristol website, only pix. I am interested because I plan to restore a wedge and export it to Hungary, I am looking for pointers and possibly costs.

It's all at http://go.to/tvrbristol , but buried under the Members page, and then Duncan's 450 SEAC. Sounds like maybe you visited some of the Bristol Region meeting reports which mention the SEAC a fair bit as I wrote the recent ones........

I'm planning to turn it into a feature for Sprint, but it requires more text & less piccies, so I've got some wordsmithing to do.
