Crash Helmet.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy an approved helmet to take on the track that's in East/North London or not too far from there??

Any help would be great.

By Road:

Our West London showroom is just 2 minutes from junction 2 of the M4. From the Chiswick roundabout, take the exit for the A406, North Circular Road. Power Road is the first right turn or, taking the exit for Chiswick High Road, Power Road is the first left turn.

By Tube or Train:

The nearest Underground and Ttrain station is 'Gunnersbury' on the District Line and the Richmond to North Woolich line (Silverlink Metro service), approxiamately 5 minutes away. Turn left out of the station and take the second right turn (by Honda UK) into Power Road. For those en route to or from Heathrow, Acton Town Underground is a 10 minute walk.

Thanks oggs, I've heard they are very good but it's right over the other side of London from me, probably not a good idea driving there on a Saturday!

you really do need to try a helmet for fit etc. Would 100% recommend visiting GPR (even use as an excuse to go to Silverstone??)

Try some on at a bike shop for size and make (different manufacturers have different fits, I ended up with an Arai as it was the only one I was comfortable in) then decide if you need a motorsport specific helmet or if a bike one will do, then either buy from the bike shop or order online - or go to Grand Prix Racewear and do it all in one day!

Big T,

None of this mail order rubbish. You need a good fitting lid or you may as well not wear one, so try some on. A good fit means it'll will feel a little on the tight side initially, particularly if you're not used to wearing one. Don't worry, it will give as you use it. Motorcycle lids are different to those for cars, but would be sufficient for a track day if you're really pushed. Also, while some gems are uncovered during testing performed by magazines, you do tend to get what you pay for, like everything else in life.
