So all of you that have been up to Racing Green this weekend and viewed the New Boys, the Sagaris and Typhon?

What to you think?

Me? I saw them both on Saturday. The Typhon I thought was beautiful, inside and out.
However that sequential gear change is in a bl**dy funny position.

How the hell you supposed to turn the steering wheel, without braking your left elbow in the process?

Shouldn't that crook thing be facing the passenger?

The Sagaris on the other hand,

I think it would look the Dogs danglies in a full racing livery.
In drab grey as a road car, I think it misses the point!
I honestly thought it would look better in the flesh than it actually does, IMHO that is.

Comments?

Yeah,the Typhon i like verrry muuuch....Mmmmmm...
But the sagaris,
it's the one that i want,ooh...ooh.. ooh.
Agree on the dodgy geary madjig thingy.I think i'd break it in minutes.
On a differant note did you go into the workshop and see the tuscan with traction control fitted. Not many takers on the interested register!
What with the weather we've been having and the amount of crashes i've heard of,starting to think not a bad idea.
Am i gonna get roasted for that?

I may be in a minority of one here but I didn't like the Sagaris I'm afraid . The exterior styling was just too fussy for my taste. You are probably right though it would look better prepared as a race car, as TVR intended. I thought the Typhon was awesome in comparison . I can't comment on the position of the gear change as I was put off by the fact I could hardly get my legs under the steering column. I'm only 6-2 but the seat didn't go back nearly far enough and I checked it was right back against the stops. I thought PW had the interiors modelled to suit his own build??. So all done it was a great day out and I enjoyed the visit to RG, but my cheque book stayed in my pocket.

Call me old-fashioned but I think the '99 Tuscan established a bench-mark in TVR brand design evolution that the lastest offerings (T350C, Sagaris and Typhon) have failed to surpass.

Desirable though each of these cars may be, they are just design extensions.

Up close, in the showroom, the Sagaris' design details give it a visual, in-your-face harshness that detracts from the underlying design and may make it the source of ridicule on the road. It would not be described as "beautiful", "attractive" or "sex on wheels" (which I suggest are words easily and often used to describe the Griffith, Chimaera, Cerbera and Tuscan). If you lose these emotional values from the brand then I think you've lost the plot.

The Typhon is, from 270 degrees around, stunning and perfectly proportioned....and then you get round to its Tamora-derivatised arse, which IMHO totally detracts from the gorgeous front and sides.

Sure, exterior design isn't everything and the driving experience may displace any uneasyness about the way the back-end looks. And as I haven't got either 50k for the Sagaris or 80k for the Typhon all this comment about design aethetics is rather moot!

But if I had £80 grand would I buy a Typhon? Or a Tuscan S AND a Subaru WRX Sti (for those winter days when a 4x4 makes more sense)? Difficult choice.

FWIW, I am not one of the TVR faithfull, but I think the Typhon is simply beautiful.

A gorgeous, eyecatching, innovative design. Ferrari should hang their head in shame.

I am a Porker man myself - would I be tempted to buy a Typhon rather than stay loyal to Germany's finest?

YES - but only if the car had switchable ABS and TC. Too many crashed TVR's around IMO...

Does not detract from the fact that the Typhon is Lovely , however

From what I understand they sold 11 of the Sagaris & 3 Typhons over the weekend, not a bad couple of days work!

I love them both, but the styling of the Typhon really floats my boat.

Racing Green chappie was saying the factory had taken 80 orders for the Sagaris, of which 12ish were from Racing Green.

Typhon v Sagaris? The Typhon is a car I would love to own whereas the Sagaris should be left to look cruel and purposeful on the racetrack (assuming all that detailing serves some purpose there - it does nothing for me as a road car)

Well I'm going to get the TC for my Griff....

It is switchable AND adjustable (from snow/ice through to off, with varying degrees of tail out in between)

I believe that a number of prospective typhon owners are interested in the TC (if Racing Green can get factory approval - for the warranty)

Sagaris looked better than in the flesh but not for me. The Typhon though - a different matter - not sure where to find the £80K though, need at least three Cerberas to trade in. Any high mileage second hand ones out there yet ??

$hit missed that! I was out in the workshop paying for a nice new Gold Leven TVR front badge!

Must admit I would have liked to have seen that TC unit fitted.

They didn't seem to be pushing it on the Saturday, shame.

I loved the Sagaris.
(All apart from the perspex mosquito difuser on the back, arent they supposed to be fitted on the front as per American/Austyralian 4x4s?!)

I have always liked the T350C shape and thought the Sagaris looked like its mean evil GT brother. Prefered it in the flesh. When I first saw a pic of it I thought "they are trying too hard" but now I want one!

Although the Typhon is a fantastic car the styling doesnt really work for me. It looks all big and heavy. Im sure Id change my mind after a test drive though!

Strange how normal Griffs, Chims, Tamoras and even Tuscans looked when next to the new models.

Oh, what is the name for the colour of the Typhon? That is just fantastic! No photo could ever do it justice!

Big Al, how are you ever going to decide...

T350 Tuscan Cerbie and now the Typhon

I assume you're discounting the Sagaris but I guess that makes life slightly easier!!

I think you need a second opinion on each one and I know just the right person!

TVR's have always been (relatively) affordable and a dream that it is acheiveable with hard work and saving.

But an £80,000 TVR?

As much as I love TVR if I had that kind of money Id take a new Aston AMV8 Vantage and buy a Griff 500 with the change.

Hadnt really thought of like that. You're right, £80k is a lot of wedge for a TVR - the Aston and Griff would be in my garage any day....

And a few other garages too. How many Typhons are going to be hidden away?

And anyway would an Aston or a Griff scare the living daylights out of old anf young alike?

I doubt you will get much change out of your £80k for an AMV8. It's bound to be in that ball park price once it's finaly launched. Rich...

I saw the Sagaris at the MPH03 show, but only from the front. Now having seen the whole car in the 'flesh', I will agree it is some monster. But, like Ffirg005 says, it does nothing for me as a road car. Maybe I am simply a classic, stylish sort of Girrl, but I still love the Chimaera, and the Griffith. It has taken me a few years to appreciate the Tuscan. Are TVR going to use a future formula where we can still appreciate what I call the "Bare-A*s Naked Driving" experience, but teamed with a comfortable daily road car? Would you drive the Sagaris on a 2000-mile European road trip? Would it ensconce you in the same comfort as its' predecessors? I don't know, and please don't flame me for my opinion. I am sure there are others out there who agree with me that maybe TVR should think about a model that brings back the true essence of driving, in style and (relative)comfort, at the same time as being able to wipe the *rse off anything else on the road Ah, well, that's my 2 pence for the afternoon Back to work now
