Traction Control at racing Green

I was at Racing Green yesterday and they are now offering Traction control on for about about £1900 + vat fitted...
After my recent bit of winter driving I'm definetly going to get it fitted, even have wifely approval, obviously she is still interested in keeping me alive...
Apparently Racing Green are trying to get TVR approval to fit this to new cars as well (ie not to effect waaranty) - to quote I believe they have taken a large percentage of Sagaris, typhon orders, and they were sayingto the factory how many do you want back in bits... Peter Wheeler needs persuading to allow this.
Hopefully this will happen, as I do remember some articles in EVO and the like taht TVR were seriously considering TC for cars as they were going to over 400 - 500bhp variants...
For the 'Purist's out there - please no comments that sports cars shouldn't have it - If you don't want it don'y buy it, or get involved.
This TC is completely switchable,
For those who go on the track, you can turn it OFF,
AND on the TRACK only please, cockpit controlled
have 5%, slip
10% slip
20 %slip
Launch control
Data logging
plus other possibilities
I rember a post a while ago, that there was a tuscan that had a racelogic kit fitted, and whilst attebding a very wet track day, was demolishing everything, with aonly a special Subaru keeping in contention.
ME I just want it to save my life on a wet road, and a slight lapse of the throttle, bump mid corner, etc,etc,etc. You can't have the reflexes of a racing driver on a public road, all the time...
I don't intend to drive to the limits of the TC, or deny the laws of physics, I want it as a safety device.

I've been praising the RaceLogic system for ages, only for certain members of PH to come back with the usual "get driver tuition", "aids are for numpties" etc. I'm all for TC, so long as you can adjust it (which you can with the RaceLogic kit).
Are they fitting the Launch Control as well ?!

Think it is a good step at the right time, however, please NO ABS!
I'm also wondering if TVR's currently have a Torsen differential? If not, I think it's better to take that road, as it is fully mechanical and doesn't interfere with driving fun. (Example: Honda S2000)

I'm seriously thinking of getting it,not only may it save your life on these miserable winter days but after talking to bluesatin at racing green it sounds like a right blast.
letting you adjust the slip angle,you'll look like a right hero just popping down the shops sideways!!
but seriously i think it would make for a much more relaxed drive when the conditions aren't ideal.And of course when the sun pop's out or your'e on track,switch it off.

There was a tuscan on a hoist in the workshop, front and rear wheel off, with a4 sgigns for traction control stuck on it, and a chap showing the sensors, and had the laptop set up as well. They had some forms for people to express an interest..
I missed the sign as well, but my wife noticed it.
I don't think it is on a demonstrater as such but to quote 'girlfriend's car' of the chap demonstrating it. Apparently Peter Wheelers going to drive it at some point, to see if it can gain his approval to fit to new cars (i.e typhon, sagaris, with rather more bhp than usual)
I am definetly getting it for my Griffith, preferably with TVR approval for the dealer to fit.

TC - damn good idea IMHO.
Check recent threads for crashed Tuscans that might otherwise have been OK. And let's not forget Harrigan who sadly lost his life last year in his Tiv - we don't know the full story but maybe, just maybe, he'd still be here on PH if he'd had TC and/or ABS.
Personally I'm going to look into it seriously for my Tuscan. I've had too many scary moments in the dry (let alone the wet) and it's a must especially for the RR and S Tuscans.
ABS. I nearly stuffed my Chim last year and was lucky to avoid hitting the tw@t who pulled out of his drive without looking. ABS would have likely saved one pair of CK boxers from a ring clenching experience.
As said before by others, we (most of us) aren't racing drivers and we just want to enjoy our cars safely. I can see no reason NOT to have ABS or Traction Control - at least as a switchable option.
Yeah, yeah I know TVR prices are low compared to other high performance cars and the trade-off is options like ABS, TC etc, but I have to take my hat off to RG for doing this.
It's an easy retro fit, if you're competant with a soldering iron.
There is an aftermarket Win Application to set the TC up via a Laptop (I'm trying to find some screen grabs).
It took me about 4hrs to fit mine, admittedly you'd have to add speed sensors as the standard system used the ABS pulses to assertain wheel rotational speed.
Here's a how to for a 300zx, not identical but the principals the same...

I know it's not new, there's even a thread on here about a tuscan with it about a year ago....
What's new - Is that this is a TVR approved main dealer offerering it, and hopefully could become an approved dealer fit option (new car warranties and the like)
