A little help from my friends

I know this should be on the Cerbera forum but I want as much help as possible TVR virgin!!!
I am in the market for a Cerb - I've found a 1997 Preg 4.2 Cerb 22.5Kmiles. Its currently at a TVR independent and I am going to view it on Saturday before I send Rob Ingleby to have a proper look.
Is there a "look or listen out for check list" for a car like this that I should look out for obvious service history rules apply etc I understand. I have been told by the garage that they are putting a 4.5 gearbox in the car.......why is this I have heard and seen this on a number of Cerbs - Idiots guide required please Thanks

I'm sure Rob will pick up on anything wrong with it, but I'd be a bit wary of one that age that'd done so few miles - would want to know if it'd been off the road for extended periods of time, etc. You'll have a big service coming in a few miles, too, so I'd maybe try and get that throw in as part of the purchase. Re miles, James Agger put me on to Wol, 1996 Griff 500, 11996 miles on it, 3 previous owners, and he's blooming brill! Wol, not James, that is, well OK then, James is OK too. Already put 2500 miles on it in just under 5 months.

High mileage is normally the sign of a reliable car
and if I was buying privately, I'd prefer that option
unless I knew the car.

If however you are lucky to have one sourced
for you or found by a specialist dealer car with
low mileage, full history and it can be delivered
to you post service, checks, upgrades etc etc
and with a warranty, you'd be barking not to
take it.
