How did you get over the urge....?

Before you all bought your TVR's how did you manage to overcome the urge to go out and buy one?
I'm sitting here, with a Focus parked outside, longing for it to magically turn into a Griff overnight
In Fact, I would go out tomorrow and sign a finance agreement on one, even though I know I couldn't possibly afford one.
So any tips to get over the craving?

Are any of them any good? I quite like the Silver S2 but 7.5K seems a tad pricey compared to the rest.

- You don't.
- You subscribe to the adverts section and drool over every single one.
- You go to the factory when you should be visiting your parents and drool over the Holden TVR (thats just me)
- You try and see if not eating or having any heating for the next 6 months will do you any harm so you can buy that Griff/Chim/Cerb/Tuscan/S
- You think about what colour is best and what combo you would have if you could spec your own (black tuscan over portland or candy apple red griff over cream)
- You don't ever get over it...even when you have one or access to one.
Claire (now looking in the classified and getting a list for Mum to check out the records on).

The guy kindly drove it to last months NY meet.
Great bloke let us all have a good look at it .
I think i could have blagged a ride seeing he wanted to buy my car but there was little time left with us all checking it out.
4 seats and 215 mph
The sound of it was simply awesome
It sounded better than my car,guess i need a louder exhaust
Mr Fish had a ride,he also has one on order
The guy kindly drove it to last months NY meet.

As Simpo one/two said no dosh helped. Also the fact I wanted a soft top and at the time they only did the FHC M series. The Turbo 3000S made it harder, but they are limited in numbers, also no driving licence was a small difficulty. Dad then, on promting from my brother, had a (60's) Tuscan in the shed, which helped. The Tasmin was a turn off - the early ones were FHC - but a SEAC looked fun.
My brother then had a Grantura (2a). Very small and harsh.
Then in early 1990 drove past a then dealer near Pershore - row of S's outside, at £12K. -mmm!
A year later a job and house move meant that the mortgage could be re jigged and I bought an S1 for £10k5. Brother got a 3000S at the same time. The S1 with 5 speeds and wind-up windows was more to my taste.
Then in 92 people in the local TVR club were ordering Griffith's, that was hard, but I didn't have the dosh. Then disaster, the Griffith was stopped and the Chimaera came out, remember seeing one at Donington - took a while to forgive it it's attempted fraticide.
Laterly I managed to save some more, a big birthday and I decided to get a Griffith while one can still get a nearly new one.
As M@H has said the S has character and is fun at more road legal speeds, the Griffith just goes round corners so much faster and with no drama. Yes I still have the S - as well.

rebuild in late 90's - by factory. Cover of Classic Cars, Jan 2003. I thought I wanted Blue over Magnolia, but ended up with Wildfire Red over Grey/Red.

You never will. I had a drive in a '92 4ltr Griff courtesy of Steve Jeavons at Chris Neils. I bored people shitless for 11 years afterwards, with that test drive. We went to Peter Smiths last july, just to see what they had in, and Gerald offered us a test drive in a 4.0 Chimeara the following weekend. Lorraine had first go, and was even more speechless than I had been. We went through the finance bit, and we were both surprised at how affordable they were. (Lorraine had just been made redundant after 18 years, and I had just increased my earnings by 30% in 4 months).
We were chatting in the pub, I retold (for the nth time), the test drive, James Agger came up with the car, bang there we were.
Do we regret it?
