Dash lights won't turn off - help with Griffith

Unfortunately due to my wife having an accident in her normal daily driver we're forced to use the Griffith for a regular work commute for the next couple of weeks. It all seems to be fine bar for the fact that when I turn the headlights and sidelights off the blasted Dash lights are staying on! I know there is an override switch to the left of the steering column that turns the Dash lights on and off but would welcome suggestions as to what might be causing the problem and how to cure it as there's a risk of leavoing the Dash lights on and flattening the battery on a cold and windy night.

Can anyone help? Is it likely to be a bad contact on the sidelights switch - if so how do I strip it?

It does sound like the switch may be at fault, which is a dash put job...

Are you sure it worked correctly before, I think folks sometimes get a bit confused rewiring that part of the dash.

Sidelight switch is double pole, feeding the dash o/ride switch + sidelights (on a tee IIRC) and the main switch from the other pole.

It would be unusual for the switch to be a fault as the sidelights & dash should come of the same pole of the switch.

...but there may have been plenty of 'intrusions' since they left the factory

Sounds like the switch/button to me. I have the opposite problem, my dash lights are out all the time (even with lights on) unless I hold in the button under the dash, button won't stay in the on position. It's on my to-do list over the winter months.

Many thanks for the replies chaps but bizzarely I drove it down to Fernhurst TVR for them to take a look and it cured itself!

My dash lights are on permanently with the side lights. Guess it has something to do with the wiring for the fan override that uses the same button.
