My Chimaera 500 had a new gearbox fitted at just 5000 miles when 5th gear packed up completely. It has been trouble free for the last 6000 miles up until it was serviced 2 weeks ago.

Ever since the 12000 mile service, the gearbox graunches when changing from 4th to 5th at anything above 3000 rpm in 4th ... It has since been back to the servicer twice but remains the same (including the service, dropping the car off and picking it up that's 5 x 100 mile round trips in 2 weeks! ahhhhh!)

At low revs , the gear change is fine. Does anyone have any bright ideas or similar experiences with T5 boxes? Could it be an oil or clutch problem?

Yours, hoping for a simpler solution than another gearbox change .... VM

the 12000 service if done to tvr recomendations includes clutch fluid replacement and gearbox oil change as you say it is since the service i would a) check for air in clutch hydraulic system b)make sure correct oil in gearbox first hope this helps.

I know NOTHING about gearboxes but..

these people do; Glebe Transmissions Ltd, 01782 594101, www.glebe.co.uk and they have more than a little experience with the T5, since they do work for the Tuscan Racers.

Certainly worth a try, if you get no better help/advice.
