Secondly, you need something it opperates at home, ie an electric garage door/gates or coming home lights.....as obviously that is what it is meant for!!!!!!
If you don't have one of these working at least, you run a very expencive risk and possibly some time away from your P&J!

Radar jammers are mostly pointless now. Police use lasers for all the mobile traps, truvelo's and red light cameras use pressure strips buried in the road.

SO that just leaves to old gatso types which generally are easy to spot and are all in roadangel/satnav databases anyway.

Also IIRC highly illegal and if caught may result in spending some time as bubbas bh....

Not sure, legally, what status they have at the moment because from memory they have been ruled legal twice & illegal twice silly

The sealed unit is the part you attach to the front of the car & feed the lead through into the interior. You should have a control box, so if it is not in the bag with the other parts have a look around the out of view parts of the dash, the control unit is usually about the size of a fag packet.

In operation when the jammer detects a radar 'hit' it emits a scramble signal for 7-10 seconds back to the source of the signal.....amazing how good modern brakes are wink

You can test the unit, assuming you find the control box, by aiming your TV remote at the sealed unit(sensor) from approx 3-4 feet away & pressing one of the channel/volume buttons. The sensor will detect the remotes signal & the control until should give off an audible warning.

These actually do work but I did notice, when they where legal of course wobble, that for some strange reason Ambulances 'on call' would sometimes activate the unit confused

After being awarded a second S172 I looked into these a few months back, IIRC they are illegal and there were reports that mobile speed trap vans now photographed any vehicle it couldn't get a speed reading for (eg the signal is jammed).

This would have a mark put against your car on their database. 2 or more marks and you could expect an knock on the door early in the morning and your car impounded as evidence, if a jammer is then found on your car you could then face the very real possibility of time inside.

The real killer is that chances are you weren't even speeding when you passed the van as these things jam the signal regardless of your speed. So pass two vans at a legal speed and spend time inside.

How true the stories were I don't know, but certainly enough to put me of a jammer and stick to just a gps/laser/radar detector which are still legal (in the uk at least) and not easily detectable by the scammera anyway.

Can't remember the make of the one I used but it was really only designed to detect lasers i.e. mobile & scamera vans, not fixed speed cameras like gatso & truvelo's but as you say that is what Road Angel etc are there for.

My other half had the unit activate when she was 'checked' by what turned out to be an unmarked car on a motorway, although she wasn't speeding angel

I had one on my Sag when I bought it and had it removed as I didn't want to get caught with it in France. Your new Sag isn't cascade indigo is it?

Only if the radar jammer has an infra red capability as well. TV Remote controls use IR light, radar uses radio waves.

The "garage door openers" only work with garage doors and gate. Like I said above. However the side effect, apparently, is they interfer with Lasers. Only lasers! Depending on the model you have, it will return either an "Err" code which is not good, or it will return nothing, ie a blank screen. As long as you can prove it oporates something for which it was designed for....(garage door) then you should be fine.
It's like a radio. It picks up Radio 1, kiss etc, but it can also pick up other frequencies, but radios are not ilegal.

Things like Laser Pro Park are good because they send out a laser reply to any laser incoming and they are a real help in that they let you know when you get to close to the car in front.

Bib use a public laser frequency so they have to accept a bit of interference every now and again from legal devices using the same frequency.

Just to clarify there is no such thing as a radar jammer that works !! however there is such a thing as a laser jammer which actually do work, I have tested on using two different laser guns that are used in this country and they work fairly well, however it is naughty and not advised, either way the guns do not show if they are being defeated except that it takes longer to get a reading,

I even got a gun to get a speed reading at a static object !

iv used various laser jammers for years now. the last unit Snooper jammer was illegal. Used it for years thinking it didnt work but then twice in same day it went wild. hit the brakes police speed trap just in font, worth every penny.. New one is a parking senser that happens to work on the same frequency as police unit. You are allowed this. Of course you must turn it off if you pick up a police signel as that would be illegal to interfere with.. of course hit brakes at same time.. oh yes.. dont realy on it for parking its crap...

I wonder what would happen to a car with laser assisted braking if you had one of these on the back?
