Fantastic - will follow this with interest. Plasticman was making one of these previously out of a cerb (with a tuscan front end and a T350 rear?).
What are you using for body panels?
What do you think it will cost all in?

What's the difference between the Typhon and the T400R?

Well the project cost is a bit of an open ended question! but i am not going to cut corners. Would like it to be as authentic as possible. With a few modifications, as similar to the track car as possible……..
Using Cerbera chassis, but this is to be strenghtned. Really at the early stages but we have made a good start.lots of decisions to make yet.....

The difference between the Typhon and the T400R is firstly in BHP, the Typhon had the supercharged speed six engine with a 6 speed box, producing 600bph. T400R (400BHP) was the redesigned Tuscon R and was renamed T400R when the T350c came out in 2003 to bring all latest models into line.

If you want this to be authentic then you're using the wrong chassis. It was anew chassis but it was based on the Tuscan chassis and was built using modified jigs for the front & rear subframes. It was then strengthened using bonded carbonfibre and honeycomb bulkheads.

Given the thread title, I was hoping that someone had located the old CDL car and was rebuilding it. This isn't a rebuild at all. It is an interesting project though.

If it is authenticity you are after then you should start with a T car chassis and put a Speed 6 engine in it. Reliable power is now much more accessible with TVR Power's range of engines. Gearboxes were either Hewland or Holinger.

How much modification to the Cerbera chassis was required for the LS7 to fit (as oppose to say an LS3)?

I'd of thought none,they are the same size on the outside anyway

Yes if I was to go totally authentic I would be using a speed six engine instead of the LS7 etc..

Am jealous. The only TVR I would get rid of my Cerb for is a Typhon maybe with an AJP engine (even if it was non-authentic). Would love to know what this might cost!

Best of luck with the project. Sounds like a bood choice of engine .. OK it's not original but will be more reliable.

Is it to be a road car / race car / show car when you are finished ?
