Which glue?

The rubber seal on the targa section of my roof has come away. I've only had the car for 12 hours so it's a bit early to risk cocking up the repair. Which adhesive is good for sticking it back on - I'm concerned that superglue will cause the rubber to degrade.

I think it depends on the Targa Del Some have a groove in that the seal fits into...

Mine hasn't and the seal is glued to the side of the Targa

Get a newer one & chop it in half then

I have a two piece targa section created by Surface and Design. The rubber strip in question is indeed a groved strip that slides onto the edge of the roof. The roof itself is like new (it should be - it was only done last year), it's just the adhesive has given up th ghost.

If its T section into the metal groove it shouldn't need glue

I once read a tip on the Chimp forum about hairspray but have never tried/needed it

It's not a T-section, just a groove. I'm afraid I haven't had any hairspray since my quiff died in the mid 90s so I'll have to make do with Evostick.

It shouldn't need to be glued in, the rubber seal should push back in, bit fiddly to do, but the roof panels have a groove in them to avoid having to use glue.

On closer inspection (after I bought the glue and bothered to look outside the gloom of the garage) you are indeed right. Going to take the roof off and do it in the kitchen where I can see what the hell I'm doing.
