Hi, I have a birthday present outstanding and am thinking of hiring a Tuscan for a day from Banbury. Has anyone done this out there or got any comments. I live in Cambs but TVR hire is a bit thin on the ground around here hence the Costwolds and some good driving roads!

hi, i live not far from banbury, and go there quite regularly i have never seen another tuscan around and very few tvrs in the area. sorry this is not much help but where in banbury can you hire them from?

Classic Car Hire have a purple Tuscan. They are based in West Yorks but have a Banbury branch as well, no idea where though.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but i know two people who hired TVR's (one of them for his Honeymoon!), and both broke down! Obviously due to lots of different people going mad in them and lack of service attention from the hire company.

Hi Tony,
yeah we hired a Chimaera form The TVR Centre, they were extremely efficient with the way they treated us and also the way in which we treated the car. Every tiny mark on the body windscreen & wheels and identified to us. This ensured that on return we could see the damage we had done. That was a worry whilst on hire. We did have a wicked time and had to pay a mass of money is excess mileage, (no damage to the car) but it was worth it.
6 weeks later we bought one of our own, so beware.

Bespokes probably do. They hire lots of sportscars.
There is als o a few companies that advertise in Evo each week and im sure there are some on the Links section of PH too.

You have a to leave a credit card imprint as an insurance excess of £3000 reducing to £1500 if you pay an additional 10% of the hire fee. A few years ago there were a few stories floating about where hire companies seemed to charge every customer for some vague damage so a good hand-over report looks like a good idea. As for getting bitten by the TVR bug and buying one, well the teeth marks are already there!

had a tuscan from sportscarhire.net for my wedding, excellent. only problem the bug had bitten and 12 months later i bought my 390 se, but well worth it

My now wife and I hired one when we got married. A ruby mica Griff 500 from Broughtons in Cheltenham. They were fantastic about the whole experience and said that realistically they'd expect some small stone chips because of the nature of the car, it was noticeable damage they were (understandably) concerned about.

The 'one day we'll get a TVR' starting point became we'll aim to get one in the next 5 years, 18 months later the Chimaera arrived. Best decision we ever made. We've met a fantastic bunch of people as a result of owning the car. Do it!

Thanks for all your replys, I have a few extra places to try now. Unfortunatly, Castle TVR don't do hire any more - "all got written off and can't get insurance now!" - which is a shame as they would have been ideal. Roll on the end of March as I am going to do this on my birthday this year rather than the last one when I was immobilsed by my back!!!

The missus hired us a Griff 500 for a wedding on the south coast three years ago. The most fantastic four days you could wish for - loads of excess mileage as had to bring it back up the A1 to P'Boro of course to show everyone

Cost about £650 all in ... but boy it was worth it - she was paying ...
