Son number 2 helped me wash my Griff yesterday (lovely male bonding etc). Until I noticed he had performed several swirling circles in the paintwork on the bonnet using a plastic scouring pad from the kitchen.

Have tried normal polishes but no joy. Has anyone used these paint renovator polishes? I tried some scratch cover from T Cut on my wifes' car last year and it left little dull patches in the paint which refused to shine. Am very concerned that I don't want to make a bad'ish situation far worse so any offers of advice gratfully received. PS Son now for sale in Parts & Accs section and comes with free set of kitchen scouring pads.

You haven't added what paint finish you have, but I'm assuming it's clearcoat, which is a base coat of colour, and then a clear lacquer over the top.

Depends if your kid has gone right through the lacquer or not, there are a lot of scratch removers out there....G27 springs to mind.......however, my advice is to take it to your local bodyshop, and let them have a look.

They will have products that you can't get, unless you know the right places, or are in the trade, and will be able to point you in the right direction.

I'm not sure that I, or anyone here would want to advise you what to do, and then find out as a result of that advice, had made things worse!!!

Hope this helps

How deep are the scratches,if you can feel them with your nails then not a lot can be done

Used Autoglym paint renovator last week worked very well,

A word of caution dont rub very hard or your rip the paint off

Start lightly and it should be ok
