Utter ***** - Keyed from bumper to bumper

Left the car at my mates place in Sutton while on holiday and get back to find it's been keyed all the way down the side.
My mates brand new A4, parked next to me, didn't have a mark on it.

Any ideas on where it can be fixed and how much it is likely to skin me in Leeds area.

Whatever you do and wherever you go there's always some git who'll be guaranteed to p155 you off.

My mate has an RX7 and some kind soul keyed a £ sign into his bonnet when it was parked in a multi storey.

As long as your car isn't a fancy colour like Rosso Pearl which can be a swine to match up and as long as the keying isn't too deep, it could be worth getting hold of one of the scratch repair people who'll do only the scratch.

That'll probably be a couple of hundred pounds (Chips Away did one of my cars - after some kids chucked handfuls of gravel at it - for £80 and there was a lot of work to do) If they can't do it I guess you'll be parting with the best part of a grand for a full side respray.

If you find out who did it remember to thank them for their hard work.

It's a pretty deep scratch, thru to the white on almost all of it.

Might just have to get the headlight upgrade now and get the rest of the scratch repaired at the same time.

Every cloud has a silver lining I guess!!!

Hi andy i really feel for you mate you work your ass to the ground to have nice things and some bleep is always jealous, although an engine speicilist i also body work and a tip here for you, if you get a touch up stick or paint and every day go over you scratch untill the build up of paint in the scratch is higher than the original finish, then get some wet and dry paper 1200 grit or higher wrap it around a smooth block and gently rub with water and fairy liquid untill smooth, the paint will go dull but then polish it with t cut or such brand

sorry to hear that Andy... I've had it done too, so I know how it feels (it wasn't to the TVR mind) it pompted me to sort out some gates & a carport - which in turn made me realise I could safely get a Chim! - so they did me a favour in a strange sort of way!

Had my Tasmin resprayed at a cost of £800 in about '99 - went to Saudi a month later for a few days and came back to find a two foot scratch along the roof. Rosso Pearl as well; never did get it touched-up.
Currently crapping myself as my 'new' Esprit is sat outside Julie's for the night on a trailer. One brick, key etc. and the project suddenly becomes a lot more hassle.... :fingerscrossed:

How about an insurance job on yours, if it's going to be steep?

Sorry to hear about the trouble, mate - hope it can be touched up/doesn't add too much to the headlight upgrade costs. Sounds like it's the weekend for blue Cerbs to get mauled.

I thought about an insurance claim but I'm on full no claims and it's the old 'do I/don't I' dilemna. I think I'll just take the hit myself this time and sort it out as funds allow.

adove - I was hoping you would get a reply as I have tried an amateur effort on the bonnet hinge area but it's coming loose again, could do with a professional to fix it permanently.

Don't know Sutton well but go east past the big B&Q and then left about a half mile down the road and its somewhere back there.

Don't know if the Langka will be up to it, its more for chips.Somebody did this to an XJS I had but fortunately did'nt go through to the metal.Ended up sanding it flat an re lacquered it.Did the job but not nice to watch!

Vaguely know the area, my friends are further towards the M25.

Central Sutton (or Slutton to locals) can be a problem at weekend nights, they've two Lax Power shops and a drive-through McDonalds so seem to attract the cruising crowd. (Once saw a hand painted St Goerge's flag on an Escort during the World Cup)

Was drinking there a few years back at a local-type pub I was told a few weeks later the place was burnt out after a fight broke out

I went to school in Sutton and worked there. The place is inhabited by some utter neanderthals (and also some really nice folk of course). I've been roadraged there more than once by laxxers.

Just console yourself that the moron involved has a shite life and probably a tiny winky.

P.S: first place in the country to get widespread CCTV so I'm told.... I know a guy who was nearly killed in the high street in a completely motiveless attack.
