Would you get an inspection on a car from a dealer?

As the title says really if you were looking at buying a car from a dealer would you still go a get an inspection from on of the independent TVR specialists? Would you also get a HPI check too? Should the dealer already have done this and where do you stand if it was previously written off??

Finally if you do recommend an inspection who is best to do it in the northern half of the country??

If you have ever part ex'd a car or seen how dealers pass cars onto other garages when they take stuff in that they dont want then you will know the lack of validation that can be carried out.

I'd get Paul Forrest from X-Works to do it. Ex-TVR service and what he doesn't know about the cars isn't worth knowing.

Ask to see HPI, or get cost knocked off price

And definately go for independant inspectuion by someone who "knows" TVRs if not confident in your own or any friends ability to check over ?

Yes I would and I did.

Check out this thread for pictures of outriggers of a Griff I was looking at at a car dealer.

The car was in a lovely condition bodywork and interior, the chassis underneath was a different story.

Although not a TVR, but I did when I bought my BMW from an official BMW dealer. I got an AA man to check the car, who found out the paint thickness in a rear panel was different. the AA man suggested that the previously owner had a minor accident and repaired it privately. although it was hpi clear, no way the BMW garage would know. they offered me 3 years BMW warranty on a 2nd car. Not bad considering I only spent a couple of hundred quid for an inspection. the AA man also pointed a few niggles too, which the garage duly fixed.
