Help needed - TVR entering the Chinese Market

Hi guys,
firstly i'm new so a big hello from me, secondly I wanted to ask for a bit of advice from people who will know something on this topic...
I'm currently in the beginning of writing a strategy on how TVR could break into the Chinese car market effectively. This is going to involve a specific set of operational objectives and an indication of what position TVR is currently occupying at home and abroad.
As you guys are fans of the brand I'd be most grateful for any suggestions/useful links/advice you may have.
It'll be completed by March so I can post the final copy here for your reference on completion!

You should do a bit of research into TVR Malaysia as that will be very relavent.

Hi guys the report is coming along nicely if you could help with a couple of things i'd really appreciate it! 
1stly is there a definitive mission statement that has been published relating to the core values and
2ndly do you know of any specific quality standards especially those that may differ in China as far as manufaturing is concerned.

"TVR quality standards" is an oxymoron. Those words never appear in the same sentence. Unless of course it also includes the word "joke" in it somewhere.

The company themselves were not too helpful - they replied stating that the sales brochures were in progress and attached a few postcards!

All is not lost, there is at least one Chimaera in Shanghi imported via Hong Kong by Auto-Inter. LHD to.

Very best of luck to you in finding a reason why TVR would even want to break into the China market. My experience with TVR in Blackpool whilst living in Hong Kong, now part of China, is nothing short of downright rudeness. It has become patently obvious to me and my fellow TVR owners here that TVR are simply not interested in an overseas market. TVR in Malaysia on the other hand have been very helpful in maintaining our cars. They tried very hard to get the cars accepted by the Chinese locals in Hong Kong. At one point I was even offered the distributership as I was the TVRCC regional organizer. There was a dealership in HK that I bought my Chimaera through in '96. Less said about them the better.
I might sound a bit bitter towards TVR and in a way I am, especially with the Blackpool factory and the experiences I have had with them. However, I still run my Chimaera in HK as I have done for the last 8 years but only with the help of TVR Malaysia and the odd TVR agent in the UK.

Jim, you don't have a blue Chim by any chance? I ask as the last time I saw one in HK it had two gentlemen driving towards Stanley. The only other Tiv I've seen was always in a parking garage which I would always see going over the highway towards Happy Valley.
If it was you in the blue Chim I did salute but I think you were moving rather briskly

Overall conclusion was that it was unlikely a company with such a business model could effectively justify entrance to the market in the way Volkswagon did ie. Set up a full line production.
It would be possible to get a dealership out there, but due to reliability issues, problems might occur with regards to service and repairs.
Chances are eventually every car company will have a presence, but for now its unlikely TVR will involve themselves
