Dirty Question - Sorry guys
Discussion
Please dont shoot me down but...
I've been a long admirer of the T350c and really want to get one but the running costs does scare me!
Anyway, i've had my head turned by the yank tank's, and in particular the Corvette C6. Will cost about the same as the T350c, will use roughly the same amount of fuel but the servicing and parts costs will be miles cheaper.
They also still have that wow factor but they are American and LHD but i would be confident of taking it on a Euro trip without the fear of breaking down, im not sure i would be so confident in the Trev!
So, my question, has anybody considering getting a yank tank instead of the TVR but still opted for the TVR? If so, why?

I was stupidly close to getting a Viper RT/10 (gen 1)I've been a long admirer of the T350c and really want to get one but the running costs does scare me!

The reasons I did not
1) Interior really wasnt that inspiering and just felt crap. The Tuscans however felt fresh and seemed to be made out of better materials (ie no tracing paper plastics).
2) The Viper was LHD as I drive mostly in the UK this put me off
3) the size of the viper ment it would be a tight squeeze in my garage and would mean B road driving a chore and no fun at all.
I do still wonder if I made the right choice and would love a go in a viper...just dont know if I could own one if you know what I mean.
I test drove a Corvette C6(Had a Ford F150 lightning at the time)and it was one of the most boring cars I have ever driven. No sense of occasion at all. It looking quite stunning in electric blue but it may aswell as been a fast Vectra.Chopped the F150 in for a Griffith and the difference was night and day.
Get one with an unlimited millage warrenty, lets face it they are pretty sure it wont go pop if they have not limited the milage, as for cost for servicing, when you come to sell the C6 I would of thought that would have lost more than a T350? so you will have to include that in your sums.
Never thought of owning a yank, but I have owned TVR's for seven years now. Taken them into Europe, Le Mans etc, used as a daily drive. Never had a mechanical problem.
Don't believe everything you read about the marque, talk to the owners, go to the meets. Yes it is a performance car and with that comes looking after them. Warm them up properly, keep an eye on fluids and put the right oil in them. How many of the speed six problems have been self inflicted?
As for the running costs, the Tuscan costs less to run than the XJR does. (As an aside the XJR has given me a few mechanical problems)

Put the numbers in a little spreadsheet. Even with big miles and a full engine rebuild I reckon a non-depreciating T350 will cost less than the Corvette. Also don't underestimate how wide the Corvette is and the inconvenience of LHD. Then you've got the subjective stuff like the sense of occasion you get inside the a TVR and the amount of cheap plastic inside the Corvette. Both good cars that were designed for very different markets.

Corvette is more 'drive and forget' than the T350 and realistically is going to require less money on maintenance and less fettling at home.
