Where to buy relays

Is there a good place to buy relays online? I want to get a new Chimaera fuel pump relay and I thought maybe I could source it from somewhere other than a dealer?

They are Bosch parts which can get from a Land Rover main dealer, roughly £17 (ouch!).

i bought my fuel pump relay from a bosch agent in gloucester(gino fatica),the cost was an amazing £7 each!! ill be trying this route for all my bosch bits in future.

have you tested the fuel pump with an alternative power supply to see if it works? If it doesnt work with this then its the fuel pump at fault. If it does work then its probably the relay.

if you want to test the relays(there are two for the fuel pump),then remove the relays from their holders,these are the two silver metal 5 pin relays hanging in the bunch of wiring to the left of the battery.each terminal on the relay has an identifying no.,using a 12v power supply(i use a charger for convenience),connect the positive wire to terminal no.86,then connect the negative wire to terminal no.85.as you make the second terminal connection,you should hear a good click from the relay.remove and re-apply the negative supply several times,and the relay should click each time if its ok.then of course just repeat for the other one.when you replace the relays,check that the terminals in their holders are making contact with the relay pins as they can occasionally come loose and push back into the holder rather than grip the terminals,thus no circuit.also worth mentioning that the terminals on the pump and the connectors that fit onto them,can become so corroded as to stop the pump working.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried this morning but as mentioned previously I am not technically minded. I will check the relays in the morning. In the meantime I have asked Brian at Dreadnought to come and collect the car next week and give it a service at the same time, this should solve the problem.

2 relays ordered from my local Bosch agent - £4.50ish + VAT each.

Make sure they've ordered the correct part numbers because that sounds awfully cheap - the last ones I got were nearly four times that price.

If they confirm that price order alot more and sell them on here for a £10 each.

Do you have a part number Trevor?

I'd be interested in carrying a spare, although when my FP started to play up it turned out to be a spade connector on the pump itself, luckily a quick and easy fix.

blimey i was robbed then .tim,the part no. is: 0 332 014 112.i agree,its well worth carrying a spare,and i do now,after a failed one comletely ruined a lovely day out,miles from home last summer

That part number looks right. Bosch part only.

I'm a sad git and replaced mine simply because "they looked a bit manky" so I've now got 2 spares. Maybe I should sell one
