Looks like two-types are suitable - Adhesive sealing product, Sikaflex 221, an all-purpose, one-part polyurethane elastic adhesive sealant that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture to form a durable elastomer. It is particularly suitable for the bonding of joints where high movement may occur.

Structural bonding and glazing product is Sikaflex 252 - a strong elastic adhesive that boasts excellent bond and gap filling properties. Capable of withstanding high dynamic stresses, it dampens noise and vibration and is suitable for bonding all types of structural and non-structural components.

Have you tried asking a TVR dealer??

I suggested two types, there are actually hundreds, try E-Mailing Islander above, he works for Sikaflex or direct to TVR.

Think you'll find 221 & 252 are used...;-/

Just a suggestion - sikaflex is superb stuff but if it is just for sealing hatches etc then you might try a silicon sealant. The reason is that it is a hell of a lot easier to get off when you reseal and will do the job just as well. There are silicon sealants designed for automotive use - I got some from decorating direct(but I can't remember the link - sorry)

I've siad it before, but it's quite easy to get sikaflex off if you've got the right solvent, use "panel degreaser" available from bodyshop supliers (you can get the sikaflex from there too)

Halfords did a Black silicone sealant (in a tube) that I found very successful when sealing all the gaps around cables etc. on my mud plugger that was often immersed in water, I also sealed around the engine bulkhead as I recall the material was also fire retardent. Only cost a few pounds - applied with a normal silicone hand gun.

Snorky Send me an E Mail, let me know where you are and I will let you know where the closest place to you is.

TVR dealer sounds like a very expensive option when buying a tube of sealant!!!!!

It does look like somebody has swallowed our datasheets! Still I learn something new everyday.

The main difference between a silicone and a polyurethane (PU) in this use is that the PU is moisture tolerant. If you ever need to remove the hatch and replace it just cut out the original sealant and reapply new Sikaflex, because the other advantage is that it will stick to itself which a silicone will not. This is why all windscreens are now stuck in with PU sealants. It makes it a lot easier when replacing them and not having to remove it all.

Hey all, I'm new to this forum so be gentle. I am considering buying a Safari Snorkel for my 90 Tdci. I have already downloaded the fitting instructions to see if there were any "extras" that I would need. One of the items is "Sikaflex 227" for the sealing process. Does anyone know where I can get this from? I have spoken to Safari themselves and explained that I am in the UK. They recommended 2 places in the UK, who have since speaking to them, been unable to assist. I have even spoken to UK distibuters of Safari snorkels who also have failed to help me. Sika UK said as I don't have an account they too could not help.

I am now on the verge of not bothering with the snorkel at all.

Can you use Sikaflex 221? I can't see why it wouldn't do the same job.

PS There is a dedicated Land Rover section on Pistonheads. You may get a better result there asking what people use.

Sikaflex EBT, I bought some. It dries to a rough mat finish, was ok for what I wanted but the 221 dries to a nice smooth gloss finish.
