Anyone had Paint Shield fitted??

Anyone used paint shield on thier cars to protect from stone chips etc??

If so how has it been, done the job and how does it look after time??

I had Armorfend on mine when I bought it, you can just see the edges on close inspection, it has lasted very well and I don't foresee having to replace it at any point. It has 1 small mark where a stone has hit it, however compared to the area under the front grill I thank god I had it on there with the reflex paint costing what it does !!

Just wish I'd had the bonnet done too !!

I know what you mean, mine is reflex aswell, got quoted £650 a litre and was told aound 6-7 ltrs for a complete respray!! Ouch!!
Just about to have my whole front end wrapped in paint shield as the paint is in good condition but have't asked anyone on here what it is like to live with.

Not cheap, but neithers the bloody paint!!

yep have it on mine too...its not armourfend but cant remember what its called very similar. went to a place near chichester. can see the line but only close up and its done a great job apart from one big stone that made a big dent in the plastic but it must have been pretty big! and if it wasn't in place then the paint would have surely been badly damaged.

Good to read!! Did you have all the front done bonnet, nose etc or just sections??

Had Paintshield fitted to mine only the other week. Finish is top class. It's not totally invisible but it is discrete enough. Can't really comment on how it performs generally or over time as it's literally been on there about 3 weeks. Had the whole front of mine done, up to about 4 inches `north` of the headlights and the wing mirrors. What i can say though is that they came recommended to me and are a very professional outfit who, in my opinion, have done a perfect job. If you like what you read you need to speak to Ann. I also sent them a picture of my car with a rough outline drawn on showing them what i was looking for which helped as the `kits` didn't quite offer what i was looking for so they designed one for my car.

I like it so much that when i finally get around to having the M3 painted again i'm going to have the Paintshield applied to that too !

Who ever told you reflex is 650 per litre wan't telling you the truth 5-6 ltr is not true either most colours on cars even specialist colours like on tvr's cover in about 3 coats of base. I just repaired a rear quarter and rear diffuser on a t350 and i used less than 3/10th's and that was spectra flair

For chromaflair's they range from 200-450 per litre if you put the right colour ground coat dow they should all cover in 3 coats of base.

Got paintshield on mine, tom and the boys did a great job.

On the Sag I have had it bedind the front and back wheels, service bonnet and the whole nose section as well as wng mirrors and the fronts of the front splitters.

Mine is specflair paint and it has made no difference to the effect of the paint. Been on the car now for 18 mnonths and looks just like it did the day it went on.

Good to read, so what are we honestly looking at price wise?? and how much would be needed for a full respray?
I spoke to my local TVR specialist who I have used many times before and have always trusted thier opinions, and they told me that there is reflex charcoal paint for around £70 a litre which they ordered for a big job but it wasn't the right match. So the only way to go was the £650 a litre stuff, so what is going on there?

The thing with paint is there are so many people making it the shades vary so much imagine 200 manufactures of paint all formulating the same colour, they will all blend the pigments in differant ways which results in varying shades.

paints have moved on so fast in the last 3 years a very slight change in air pressure when spraying will atomize the paint differently hence colour matching is a nightmare now days but it keeps us paint monkeys on our toes. ppg sell harlequin at £650 per litre thats some of the dearest paint i have ever used. i buy 3-4 litres for a full interior exterior repaint and have paint left over normally
