Hi all

I am looking at getting a Chim once my 928 is sold and was wondering if any of you guys can give me some clues on getting a good price for a Chim.

Im 25, have a completely unblemished 7 year driving history and 4 years NCB available for the TVR. As i said at the moment i have a Porsche 928 (as my second car, which the Chim will be. My daily driver is an MX5) so i'm not a complete newbie to quick stuff (the 928 is group 20 and has in excess of 300 BHP) The car will be kept in a locked garage within a gated driveway and only used on high days and holidays, i.e. low limited mileage. My postcode is a rural Worcestershire one so shouldn't be too "hot".

So, do you think i have a fighting chance of a reasonable price? any good specialists? I've done a premliminary confused/go compare survey, not the best place to look i guess....

Plenty of specialists out there to try, as a limited mileage, garaged, second car you should get a reasonable quote from one/some of the following;

Mannings, Richard Eggar, Chris Knott, A-Plan, A-One, RH, Jelf Groups, Classicline, MSM.

I had a 928GTS before the Griff500, both fantastic cars

I use mannings for insurance because they offer good trackday cover though there are cheaper companies if trackdays aren't your thing.

I went with them when I hit 25. My Insurance went from £1100 for the Tuscan down to £490!

Thats with 3 points as well. Although they did take into account my history of RWD cars.

At the moment i pay a tocuh over £200 for the 928, fully comp, agreed valuation and 4000 mile limit...

Have a look at Elephant, Adrian Flux, A Plan as well.

Depending on their moods, that latter 2 can be good, my Chimaera is with Adrian Flux but currently my best quote for the Tuscan is with Elephant.

I am also 25 7 years driving 5 years NCB just went with manning's the other week £360 a year 5k per year and track cover very happy. Chim is a second car too.

That sounds excellent, my preliminary searches have thrown up 1.5k plus quotes from "mainstream" insurers.....they can jog on
