American Speeding Tickets?????

Hello....

Q: If I return to America with unpaid speeding fines would immigration have been informed about this?

I was stopped in Utah doing 105mph $340-00 fine, I thought fair cop, I will pay when I get chance before my holidays up!!

Then whilst driving through Oregon I was stopped doing 80mph, as always they have nothing to back this up, he just said I recon you were doing 80???? I did try and talk about this with him but he just went back to his car wrote a ticket out for $287 for speeding & $287 for following to close!!!!!

There was no one in front of me?? so as you can imagine it was very annoying!! couldn't argue this with him as he just tossed the ticket in the car and took off!! C##t!!!!!

It was at this point I decided not to pay any of the tickets? now back in the UK & having second thoughts?????

As this is not a Felony do you think it may cause me problems at Immigration upon my return??

I have a number of tickets from the USA but I do tend to pay them. Speeding is restricted to th state you are in and soemtimes even the county. I got done in January for 99 in a 50 in one county and then 87 in a 50 later that day.

You will not be on a national register - you will be on a state or county register but they can tie them together.

not sure how it works with immigration, but why didn't you go and complain about the officer when you first got the tickets?

I would call them up and pay them, if you get stopped in the US, they automatically form a "record" for you, if you fail to pay these, they will come down heavy on you if you do get stopped and they run your licence.

I used to live in New York and only got stopped once for apparently running a red light, i didn't, but i got clobbered with an inop tail light, being an unregistered driver and the red light. In NY, if you want to appeal, you go to traffic court, can take all morning, thats if the copper turns up!

I had the tail light and unregistered licence overturned due to the fact i knew i was in the right, but just paid the red light fine because it was cheaper than going to court, wasting a morning.

My advice, get it sorted ASAP otherwise it will bite you in the arse later.
