The GKN differential on my 96 griff is knackered. The limited slip plates have gone (what me do doughnuts?) and the oil seals are leaking.

It was sent away to be reconditioned by Peninsula but the quote for a recon was £900. The TVR factory has offered a "new" diff for £900, usually £1200. The only problem being, it's actually 3 years old and has been stored outside.

Apparently the flanges have surface rust but that can either be cleaned off or the flanges from the original diff fitted. I am however a tad concerned that the internals of the diff will have corroded if it has been sat still for 3 years without the oil circulating.

Has anyone had one of these GKN diffs from TVR(apparently they sell 1 a month!) or can anyone confirm that I'm worrying unnecessarily.

TIA,

Ian A.

Sounds very tempting but as there is a large cost in removing and fitting the diff, I'm not sure I'm prepared to risk it. Also, I can wait another 4 days to get my only car back!

Ta anyway,
