I was looking at repainting the inner wheel arches of my Tuscan with Dinirol 455. Has anyone used this and can this or an alternative product be recommended by anyone?

My method:

Remove the access panels, if applicable

Remove all loose material in the main arches only

Strip the paint and overspary on the body tub black gel coat with nitromoors or similar

Cut back the gel coat with compound, polish to mirror finish

Mask and apply several light coats of shultz/ tetrosyl aerosol black underseal on the main arch to smooth the surface.

Apply acrylic gloss over to finish

Hi Graham

When you say you use Nitromors, did you use the 'All Purpose Paint and Vanish Remover' in the green tin, because it quotes "Removes gloss and other decorative paints, varnishes, metal and car paints (not on glass fibre)".

I am not going to use this on the bodywork, but wanted to know if it reacted ok on the body tub or did you use one of the other Nitromors products?

Yes, thats the one, Green tin Nitromors , but do not leave it on too long, 1-2 mins then wipe off with cellulose thinners.

It really is rewarding when you see the gloss finish of the gel coat appear

Graham, I applied Nitromor several times and tried wire wall, scraping and rubbing but it doesn't appear to remove the stone chip very successfully. I will try again tomorrow, but did you have the same problem?

keep trying, it took ages to get the process right.
Perhaps layer the nitromoors so it does not dry out to quickly or use the cellulose thinners to soften but avoid anything abrasive as you want to preserve to gel coat finish.

It maybe help to try the floor pans first as they should have less overspray

Thanks Graham, persistence paid off with the cellulose. Used Stone chip supplied by Surface & Design and then lacquered to ease the cleaning.

First stage, clean.yuck

Paint with Stone chip and leave to dry.coffee

Polish tub and lacquer Stone chip.driving
