Track Day Handling
Discussion
Took the Cerbera for my first ever track day this week. On exiting corners I was experiencing the back sliding out(oversteer?). Now I appreciate it was my first attempt and my throttle control needs to be smoother, but it did seem excessive. What effect will adjusting the nitrons have on this?

It's a brillant track and very enjoyable. The problem was the bottom banked hairpin which on exiting required very careful throttle control to avoid the backend stepping out.
I've set the back up on a mid position. I am running T1-R's. What's the recommended setting?
In the wet the nitrons should be set softer. In the very wet the T1-R's are a blinding tyre! In the dry you want the car a lot firmer. But the T1-r's will over heat very quickly on a trackday. When they get hot the grip is really low.I've set the back up on a mid position. I am running T1-R's. What's the recommended setting?
Edit to add:
Worth also mentioning tyre pressures. A ball park starting figure would be 22F/24R. Too much higher and the tyre will over pressure very quickly when they heat up especially if T1-R's.
Whilst T1-r's are an ok road tyre, they really are not a trackday tyre IMO.

Get a second set of wheels (cheap on classifieds) and stick a set of R888's on. The difference in performance is simply staggering.
Once they're on the car, take it down to TVR Power and ask Wayne to give your car a road/track geo setup. He'll probably put a bit more camber on the back (my Chim has loads) and tweek the rest of the geo to reflect a slightly more aggressive stance on track. It will wear your tyres at a slightly increased rate, but for the difference in performance it really is worth it. He may also adjust your ride height and rebound settings to make it behave a little better.
Mine used to feel rather nervous on track and a bit of a handful - since sorting the tyres and the geo though, it feels immensly capable even with 400bhp courtesy of the blower. I no longer get understeer or oversteer really. Push it into a corner and it just keeps gripping until you start to slide all 4 wheels. F***ing brilliant!

On my cerb I set my pressures to 18psi all round at the start, this allows for the tyre to heat up to about 26 after a couple of laps. You would not want it much higher than this on T1R's.Worth also mentioning tyre pressures. A ball park starting figure would be 22F/24R. By the way what track were you at?

My local tyre place now do Nitrogen filling.Tyre pressures less prone to variation with temperature ?
