Power Steering Failed - Help

Following anice evening run in my Chim 500 97, i turuned a corner to hear what sounded like rattle from a belt or bearing follwed by loss of power steering. The car was still driveable but without power (better for it !!)

I can't see a hose missing but all the fluid has gone.

Does this sound like Is this likely to be a pump failure or am i likely to have damaged the pump by running teh cra if a pipe has split running it dry ?

The noise could just be because its running dry and not damaged, the fluid my have suddenly escaped due to a split seal or hose or you may have neglected checking the level for a while (running low/empty).

I suggest just put some rags under the car & add some more fluid, see what happens - hopefully all should be fine, if not at least you will see where the leak is etc. (dont forget to turn from lock to lock to get the air out of the system (engine running)). Fingers crossed & all that !
