Door catch mechanism

It seem there may be a problem with the door catch on my Tuscan. I tried the usual (RG, Clever Trevor, Racetech) but can't find anywhere that sells them.

Anyone know someone who sells them - and how much? Thanks.

Depends what part of it is buggered! You can get replacement solenoids and microswitches, but I don't know what vehicle the actual mechanism is from.

Had a call from the people doing the car service. Apparently it is not closing properly so they say it might just be the wiring or it may also need a new catch. I just wanted to get an idea of the likely cost.

I have it in my head that it's from a Ford Transit, but can't remember where I got that idea from now!

Off the top of my head; microswitch is about £10 and the solenoid can be had for about £25. If the mechanism itself is shot, I wouldn't know the price I'm afraid.

Here's hoping it's a cheap fix!

Having had a door problem on Friday (clearing out the gravel solved it) I surfed around looking for the price of Chimaera door locks over the weekend but did not have any joy.

sounds weird? unlikely to be anything electrical if its trouble with the door closing, the solenoid only engages to open?

Ask them what they mean?!

If all else fails try douglas valley breakers or bell hill garage. TVRCarparts normally good for this kind of thing too.

I think what they mean is that when allen bolts (A and B) are tightened down then part C gets stuck.

It's always been like this since I got the car and I just leave the 2 bolts slightly loose and all is well; I took this to be just normal TVR-type behaviour.



I left it that if they can fix it for an hours labour plus a new catch if needed then go ahead. It's just that there are so many more interesting ways to spend £100!

Lock is off a Ford Transit. Look at it another way. If the door pops open on the move because the lock is knackered £100 is cheap compared to a new door or anything else it might hit.
