Straight 6 v V8?
Discussion
And sixes is for pussy's,
in a jaguar kind of way
I was overtaken a couple of weeks ago on the A31 near the Hen and Chickens by a Tuscan and I couldn't hear it, even when it went passed.
Other motorists move over because they can hear my V8S coming up behind them - its like a snowplough with some of the middle and outside lane hogs. I think of it as a community service. Jeez knows what effect a SEAC would have, though I'm sure I'll get told.

I love them both for different reasons. Speed 6 -the closest thing to a pure racing engine I've ever sampled in a road car, raw, sounds like a great big superbike, fantastic throttle response and goes up and down the rev range like you wouldn't believe. RV8 - sounds like distant thunder as you pootle along, wads of big fat torque to shift you along, absolutely hammers like a NASCAR engine when you nail the loud pedal.
As to paraphrase a car mag, both sound good enough to have their own recording contract, though the RV8 might be more appealing when wafting along instead of absolutely gunning it. Then again, the instant revability and shocking pace of the Sp6 and its rawness are a great experience, too.
Never drove an AJP8-engined car, though.

The advantages and disadvantages of a V8 are two more cylinders. A straight six is naturally balanced. Nothing in this world sounds as good as a V8 - especially TVR V8.
Some day all TVR's will have a straight six Roger![]()

Not in my F****** life time!!

('Ere 'ere) JT. Long live the AJPV8.
..anyone else aware that the AJP is based on John Judd's F1 engine?

Nothing else to add
I was pootleing along near treble figures
, going to for a cuppa tea with my 90 yr old grandmother, the Tusc glid passed almost SILENTLY. It wasn't a race, and I know who would have one if it was, before you start.

yeah rumour has it he thought that basing a modern engine on two coventry climax Imp fours was taking the piss so he dumped it, TVR bought it for peanuts .. lol
Jules, did the Imp lump have fabricated crankcase then? I thought it was cast alloy
Oh well, somedays you learn nothing!
