Car tax

I havent been on here for while so i dont know if
anyone has remarked on this yet but got to say something. I read in the paper that the thiefs are trying to put car tax on larger engine cars up to £1000 i dont know how true this is but if it is and nothing supprises me where the "goverment" are concerned !. I think it is time for us working people to stand up and do something about it.

You can't trust press speculation ..but my tax runs to end March and as the budget is today I'm paying a visit to the post office just to be on the safe side.

Isnt our illustrious media fabulous? What has happened is that "they" have commissioned a report into the options for the change in the banding of car tax. One of the suggestions was to investigate the options for charging more for "gas guzzlers". But since we are in the run-up to an election, it would be suicide to impose a £1000 tax on 20M+ motorists......

Good to see that the media like to blur the lines between commissioning a report and we are all going to get taxed out of our cars..... VED might increase slightly in the budget, but do be aware that it will be from a date in the future - probably 1 year from the budget report - so not exactly critical.

When this Goverment has real serious nasty issues perhaps it puts out these little stories as a diversion from the horror to come?

this may be stupid, but if the car tax has to be introduced then maybe it should only apply to 'gas-guzzling' cars from the date the bill is released (or on cars produced from 2005 onwards). This will deter punters from buying such cars, thus keeping the transport board happy and eleviating the 'guzzling' car problem, but this will also keep those who already have these types of cars happy and content, like ourselves...
