flywheel weights 2.8 - 2.9?

The 2.8 flywheel will fit 2.9 engine, 2.9 heavy flywheel was fitted to 4x4 cars to cut down on vibration and help inertia.The heavy flywheel clutch face is recesed you will need to use a 4x4 clutch wich is uprated for 4x4 use. Difference in gear boxes early 4 speed, 5 speed type 9 were fitted in granada and xr4i early sierra and granada 4x4 2.8 engine. 5 speed MT 75 later gearbox sierra 4x4 granada 4x4 v6 cars and sierra cosworth 4x4.if you want use a Mt 75 gearbox you will need to convert a sierra 2 litre box to fit v6 it can be done as ive done it on my v6 supercharged sierra 2 wheel drive.Hope this helps if you need any more info email me.

years and years ago now I fitted an MT75 to a 2.8 Siearra 4x4 ghia estate. The car was fully loaded and actually the endinburgh motorshow car. E 276 BOO was its reg no. The Gearbox bolted up and then we found out about the flywheel. when we changed to a 2.9 4x4 flywheel everything worked. from memory the front diff webs fouled as well and required a little grinding away to clear the front prop I think.Edited by dpd3047 on Friday 6th August 15:47
it was all many years ago, but in the early 1990's there was at least 1 2.8 with a 2.9 MT75.
