Tesco Insurance quote bizarreness

One of these guys should be able to give you a good deal:
A Manning UK Ltd: +44 (01491) 578759
A1: +44 (01202) 760022
Cheam: +44 (0208) 7701001
Classicline TVR: +44 (01455) 891330
Heritage: +44 (0121) 2466060
Norwich Union Direct: +44 (0800) 888112
Peart: +44 (01539) 730666
Sunninghill: +44 (0870) 7878017
A Manning insured my 1999 TVR Chimaera 400 for £670 fully comp, living in Cheshire, with NCB protection, track day cover and legal cover. I had 8yrs NCB and limited the mileage to 5,000 p.a. The car is garaged overnight.
I hope this helps.

Tesco's are very erratic.
They quoted me a figure, can't remember which car now, but they gave me a figure and an excess.
I asked to up the excess to bring the quote down.
It did the opposite the excess went up and so did the premium
So I asked him to revert back to the original excess, which he did, but couldn't get the quote back to the same figure he originally quoted.
Needless to say I didn't bother with them.
My Supra is through AA, and the TVR through Sunninghill who have just quoted me £792
A bit better than the £917 I was paying last year.

Tescos gave me an excellent quote BUT...
I called back to change a small thing...quote still good.
Called back a third time to confirm everything before collecting car* and suddenly the quote doubled!
They totally cocked it all up.
I put in a formal complaint since they had already wasted poo loads of my time.
(*and then to top it all the car was gone too
)

)I just got a good quote from Cheam for the S3 which was £120 cheaper than my renewal quote from NU Direct.
Does that make you feel any better?

Can't recommend Sunninghill enough personally. Just renewed the insurance on my N Reg Griff which is insured for £16,500, garaged overnight and limited mileage to 6,000. Plus they cover trackdays and include legel expenses etc etc.
I've got one years no claims bonus, 28 years old and live a few miles north of Brighton. Cost of premium = £530. It's a deal, it's a steal...
Cheers - Chris

A Manning were over £1,000
Peart were £880
Sunninghill were £840
Tescos (phone) were £803
A1 were £799
Performance Car Insurance (0161 2785226) were £650 (they haven't confirmed this yet to me)
Cheam were £575 and included track days
At this point I stopped & went for Cheam (they were cool about my Mark Adams chip & different brakes as well)
The other thing was that this included commuting to/from work & the car ungaraged - apparently people like A1 can do it for under £500 if I didn't want to commute, and also garaged the car.
These quotes are all well and good, but who are the underwriters?
I personally pay a bit extra for a known underwriter and the knowledge that should I need to make a claim I'm not going to get shafted!
Just my 2 penneth, and for the record Tescos just quoted me £690 on the 500 with a lower excess than my current insurer, unlimied mileage and protected NCD. Underwriters were Equity Red Star.
I'll see what they quote come Setp when my renewal is due.
