TVR. No longer reconised by the masses?

Well whilst parking my TVR up in the garage i remember hearing a kid say to his mate "oh look at that car, what is it", the other kid said it was a Ford!

d but can forgive the little scrote. Did have a chuckle to myself though.
Then last week a mate heard i had a new car and asked to see it, i said it was at a garage at the moment (no it had'nt broken down - it's getting some mods done)but i have a picture on my phone that he could see. He then says what is it!! FFS grrr
Then to my amazement a kid who lives in the same area as me, no older than 9 years old comes up to me and asks where my TVR was! To say i was gobsmacked is an under statement.
So the TVR name is not dead but do admit that fewer and fewer people are aware of them. Still at least it makes them that bit more exclusive.

That happened to me on Tuesday! I have the body lifted on the S, doing some chassis repairs, this old chap appears at the garage door and says "What's that".7.
"TVR"
"Oh yeah, I had a TR3 once"
"No, not a Triumph, a TVR"
"Yeah but it's Triumph that makes them, I had a TR3 once..."
"No, TVR are separate..."
"Great car that TR3. Then they brought out the TR4, that was good too. I remember driving my TR3 along this road once...."
I give up...
Ive just heard a cracker.Ive got the builders in. In making small talk,the charge hand says.;
Him "I love those American cars you have outside. Especially the multi-coloured one"
Me "That one is not American"."Its British"
Him " I thought it was a Corvette"
Me "No the Corvette is the one behind". "That one is a TVR"
Him "Who makes them then?"

.. I often hear kids shouting 'TVR' as I drive past so not all is lost.

I'm taking a 10year old lad out for a run in my Cerbera on Sat because TVRs are his favourite cars. His dad asked him what car would he want if he could have any car and he said a TVR.

One weekend a few months back I was installing boarding in my loft. I could hear a few young voices (under 10 years old) arguing about what my car was (it was under a cover at the time).
One said that it was a TVR, but the other said that no, it was an Aston Martin, you can tell from the shape of the grill (I can see where he was coming from on that one).
Anyway, it was then decided that it was definitely a TVR as you could see outline of the badge on the front. I heard a girl say to the guy who suggest Aston that "I thought you knew all about cars" as they walked off.
P.S. Have also seen a boy who was walking to school with a friend shout "Yay" and punch the air with his fist as I drove past!

Must admit it did take a short while (and a few smacks) to re-educate the OH as to the difference between MX5s and Chims. Also had the "TVR, they're made by Triumph" thing.
But it was nice when driving through a well-heeled area with wall to wall Porsches that the kids ignore them but point and shout TVR.

Sad I think. Probably same on bikes, ask them to name a few bikes, apart from a Fireblade.
I can even remember the names of the likes of James, Norton, Tribsa, Norvin, Brough Superior, Triton of course, AJS, and ASP, (Which my mate called his, coz it was All Spare Parts).
Must go, showing my age now.
