Not only do TVR exaggerate their BHP claims but...
Discussion
....having bought a Road Angel for use in my 96 Griff, it seems that according to the RA's GPS speedo my car's speedo over-reads by a whopping 16%
When used in my company Vectra the RA only has a difference of 4mph throughout the range which I would have thought was more acceptable.
Always thought the Tiv's speedo was a little optimistic but also thought the noise, handling, etc helped towards the impression of speed.
Sixteen bloody percent!
Still that might mean that the car has done slightly less miles than I thought it had when I bought it 2 years ago
Anyone else checked theirs against GPS?

Our 500 is around 5-6 mph over at 130ish. Have you all standard wheels / tyres ?
Regards, Ed
Through the lights indicated speed 157mph true speed 158mph no problem.
as regards HP well on a rolling road dyno after a bit of work and a lot of money 365 HP at the back wheels, and it feels like it. To be quite honest its not the smoothest engine now and I wonder if the effort has been worth it ,oh and by the way the car is a 97 500 Griff in the handbook it states 340hp, before i did the various mods over two years it showed an 320 HP output it was a very warm day when it was first tested.
To be quite honest the extra 50 hp is not really worth the effort, buy a Tuscan S

Oh dear. Not sure if I can really be bothered here but you will always find a difference in bhp claimed/found - but what is actually at the flywheel.
For info, manufactures shouldprovide speed indicating device within +10%/-0% (that is legal req't) but TVR seem to flaunt this. At present my own speedo reads 70mph when it's actually 90mph and I have the points to prove it!
But don't get hung up over it - just get it fixed. I hope to get mine done soon or it will be another 3 points!

Hi Neil - why aren`t you working then?
It`s a TVR safety measure so you are less likely to speed

Standard wheels and 245/45ZR-16 SO2s, so they shouldn't cause a problem, history on car is good and verified so I doubt clocking has anything to do with it and because of that I don't think its had a speedo change either which may cause a mismatch with the speed sensor.
Seems there is quite a variation between others speedos ranging from good to bad and mine (v.bad) - just one of those TVR things then
