Finally - TVRs are NOT unreliable

Ever since I first saw the light and creamed my pants at the sound of my first TVR (a 350i going through Cupar in Fife), I have been amazed and annoyed by so many people including motoring presenters who have talked rubbish saying that TVRs were unreliable.
Well I was over the moon this morning to be on the Parkers price guide site.
I was looking at what they had to say about specifically the Tuscan S, and there it was (sorry this is good I have to quote it)
"It's a highly strung, high performance machine — treat it as such, look after it properly and it should be fine. Abuse it and you'll find yourself telling everyone TVRs are unreliable",
at last someone with something other than a vacuum between their ears !!!

Just use 'em........they become unreliable when left stored over the winter, taken out when the sun comes out and blasted to within an inch of death.

Use and abuse daily and everything should be ok.
(14 months, 1 headlight relay and a faulty cigarette lighter, gallons and gallons of optimax, a bit of oil, the odd service and a huge grin)

Couldn't agree more- had a pint with a mechanic from TVR Centre Barnet last year and he said that, because these cars are designed and built for thrashing, the ones that aren't tend to run up larger bills come servicing time (obviously not true of all cars across the range- but his words just the same).

Now I'm saying this with an understandable note of caution and not necessarily advocating the "abuse" as mentioned- it just seems that some owners expect trouble free

"BEST EVER TVR, It's true! The £25k, 175MPH Cerbera is practical and reliable"...

Someone better had tell them that they do more than 175MPH though!

I use my S everyday now for my commute (no more trains - yippee!) and the cobwebs don't stand a chance - backroad commute = give it some JLP (within the speed limits, of course, ociffer)

The only real problem I've had is an apparent hole in the fuel tank. I've only once taken the car out and not had to fill it up before I get home.

I'll remind the TVR Centre of that when I take my Griff in for it's next service - I'll make sure I ask for the 'at least 200 miles a week' discount . I agree about regular use being good for any car though.
