Just do NOT get it confused with Dot 5, which is silicon and must not be mixed with any other braking fluids (other than itself !!). Used for Classic cars etc, it is non-hygroscopic (thank's to The Dodger) (doesn't absorb water).

Trev, I think you mean dot 5 (synthetic) is non-hygroscopic (doesn't absorb moisture). Thixotropic means it's a gel which gets runny when stirred - like 'Thixo-Fix' adhesive for Formica which you apply with a spreader.
abso*bloomin*lootly, I'll now amend, apologies. My brain cell, the one I had a couple of hours ago, was thixotropic ;-))

Have used it in the Griffith for 12 months+. Getter better performance that DOT4 and do not have to change every 6 months like I did with DOT5.1.
Use it in the clutch system as well.
You do not to make sure you flush the system thoroughly though...

My typing is getting worse and worse on PH these days ...

I've also seen *stock* brake hoses to leak-break after a while, when using DOT 5.1 Silicon based fluids, so be carefull with them ![]()
Would be a good chance to upgrade and the brake hoses to braided ones as well as they can cope up with thick brake fluids.
Byron
I have full braided hoses all round inclusing the clutch ..
