What were you doing when your TVR was beign built

Daft question I know but having just returned to Tivdom in the form of a Griffith 500, I was looking at the date of manufacture and noticed the date was the same as my wedding day back in December 1993.

The connection is that I was supposed to be driving my 390SE to the wedding but on pulling away from the best man's house, the steering column snapped. Would not have been so annoyed if I had known my future Griff was being PDI'd for collection at the same time!

I wonder who is looking after my future Tuscan 2 at the moment

Anybody else have a significant date attached to thiers?

Slllllightly O/T, but I was best man at a mate's wedding in Henley back in 1999. I remember sitting, quite pissed, eating fish & chips at midnight opposite Henley Heritage gazing longingly across the road at the TVRs I couldn't afford. Looking back through the history, I'm fairly sure that I was looking across at my actual Chimaera, 10 years before I owned it!

It was originally delivered through Henley in '98, and was back in their showroom as a used TVR in '99.

1) Restoring other peoples cars

2) Getting fed up because I could never afford what really wanted to drive

3) Delivering a 1934 Talbot 105 VDP to the Netherlands and leaving a week early without telling the customer so I could tour northern France with a tent and my latest girl (this was a proper shakedown)

4) Borrowing a customers Ford Anglia we had just put a Lotus twin Cam in and nearly bending it

5) Driving around East Anglia with the prettiest girl I could persuade into the passenger seat of my two tone Triumph Herald convertible

6) Restoring a Mk2 Zephyr convertible for Practical Classics magazine for over a year and missing the front cover photo because I had my mechanic exams that day at Norwich City College

7) Blagging a ride in a Chim at Henley TVR on my way back from Glastonbury festival knowing I could never afford one

8) Dreaming one day I would have a Chimaera for myself

Depending on when in 1999 you were sitting there, you might have been looking at my car too! It was built in either June or July, registered on 1 August and originally sold by Henley Heritage.

Can't find a date of manufacture anywhere but the original date of sale of my car was 13/5/1989 which would have been 5 days after my 6th birthday. I'd probably have been watching Thomas the Tank Engine!
