Dunlop Formula R D01 tyres

Has anyone had a set of these tyres.
They are road legal slicks, they give incredible grip in the dry and good grip in the wet so i have been told and last 14,000 miles this includes 6 track days
can this be true?

Steve - I've gone for the Dunlop SP Super Sport Race. That's kind of one rung down from the D01 you're talking about. Couldn't get the D01 in the sizes I wanted. Apparently there's a D02 coming out later this year in a greater range of sizes though. The Super Sport Race is VERY good though. Needs a little heat in it to work but then it's a grin a minute. A lot better than the Toyo's they've replaced and I thought they were a fair tyre. Looking forward to my next track day even more than usual!

A friend on mine has them on a Caterham and they are absolutely brilliant! Not tried them in the wet though?

I'm using SO3s at the moment,not a bad tyre but i don't like the shape of the tyre wall and i'm going to be lucky if they will do 4,000 miles

I suppose how many laps each of the trackdays was and where, but it seems a lot, especially if they were still road legal after that amount of time.

Maxsport RB5 is a road legal slick, but as its a remould its only H rated, but they are really cheap !!

The Ginetta championhip curently uses the D01 as their control tyre and they are lasting 4-5 races with testing in between and before races. The D02 is out now and are when tested were 1/2 second quicker back to back on the same Ginetta. Don't have any data on the life span though and don't have any idea what these tyres are like on he road.

Think i will give them a try if they make the correct size tyre.

do not consider these for road use

They need warming up and are lethal in standing water

but they are a super track tyre (and you could drive there and back on them)
