County TVR Cheltenham

Hi all,
Just booked the Chim in for it's service at County for next Friday, they have the car for a week so thought I might see if I can twist the mrs' arm and see if I can convince her that a T350 would be a nice little upgrade!!
Was pleasantly surprised when speaking with Trevor at castle that I can take out a T350 and a Tuscan S for a test drive - wetting my pants already - there's little hope for getting my better half to use a tuscan but I'll certainly be trying the convincing!!
Trevor was also kind enough to invite me to a track day on the friday and give me a spin as I'd be car-less, unfortunately a trip out of the country means I couldn't oblige - hopefully next time!
A welcome change from my other local-ish TVR dealer in wiltshire (naming no names) who seems more interested in selling a Scooby than giving any kind of service - last year I offered him full asking in cash on a Chim if he could let me have it asap (it was sat on the forecourt) they wanted to check it out for the warranty etc etc, no problem there, asked how long it would be - 4 weeks!! your having a giraffe I thought and went and bought my from Peninsular - good service and delivery.
PS - anyone used County before?

I have used County TVR with my (ex) Chim 450, can't really fault them, they even agreed to look at my Chim when I ran the battery down at very short notice,, they kept it overnight and all that was needed was the battery recharging, which they did,, for just a few quid!
I pick up my Tamora on Saturday (sold Chim today to a guy I know will take good care of her), so am TVR less for 2 days!!!
I will, however, use County again for servicing, and of course, if I'm numpty enough to drain the battery again!!!! lol

I haven't used them per se but called in there once when I was having trouble with my headlights and found their customer service and attitude very good. It was a Saturday and the TVR mechanics weren't on that weekend, but the service manager, after looking it over and providing some advice, went out of his way to find me maps and directions to the one in Cwmbran (who, incidently, weren't so welcoming with only a receptionist around to say 'sorry, we can't help you...').
To be honest, it felt a bit wierd to be treated like a human being by someone in a car garage!
I used County for a big service on the Griff 2 weeks ago and they did a great job. (They've also serviced the Mazda shopping trolley and done a good job on that too but then, with Mercedes and Brabus pedigree it ought to be good?) I second the comment that its great to be treated like a human being (a la County) and not a dumb cash cow (like most of the others)- although it can be unnerving when you expect the worst!

Ben from the factory speaks highly of them and he passed my number to the head man there (Troy, I think)I had a chat with him and he sounded like a TVR keeno.
If TVR don't sort out a new S.Wales dealer I'll be going there for my servicing.... and next car.

I'll be interested in how you get on at County. I was put off of TVR ownership by my local dealer (Wiltshire), and if it had not been for most of the local TVRCC guys stating they use Peninsula instead, we would not have bothered getting a tiv at all!! Peninsula were great and could not have been moe helpful, so I plan on keep using them, but its always nice to know what other dealers are like.......

Sounds like we have had exactly the same experience with our cars!!
When did you get yours then? to be fair wouldn't surprise me if the dealer in wiltshire stopped with the Tiv's he just doesn't seem interested - my friend (a 350 owner)made an offer on a griff that had been in the showroom over a year, they weren't interested in selling it for £1 less than the full asking which hadn't changed the whole time - surely a years depreciation on the car and there desire to eventually get it shifted would have warranted some deal at least?!
Where in Wilts you from? I'm from Swindon I've yet to meet up with any of the wilts TVRCC. Only seen two other chims driving locally but not recently although there is a lovely Tuscan about who always gives a big wave!
I'll give you the gen on County- obviously when I booked my service I mentioned I got there details from PH website and if they do a good job I'm more than happy to sing their praises as agree with you 100% peninsular are good but Cheltenham is just that little bit more local!

The local dealer had a car in their showroom when we popped up there for the same money as the one we ended up getting from Peninsula. It was a year older, more miles, no A/C, no PAS, and the bits of the interior that weren't falling apart or torn were really shabby. He (Mr Owner Bloke whose name would only give it away) had teh attitude that "people who have TVRs don't drive them every day Sir, they have something else to drive in the week". Also, if MrsHobbit couldn't reach the pedals, then that was basically tough sh1t.
Peninsula were really helpful, and had a mechanic on hand to tweak the pedals etc until MrsHobbit could drive it. They made us up a bolster in the same colour as the interior to add to her comfort when driving too! Top Guys
We're over in Chippenham... so not too far away. Will be in Swindon (Old Town) this afternoon for a short while too... where abouts in Swindon are you?
